Fuel Injection in '68 ?

I was thinking about it at finally had a search over Wikipedia, and I was wondering :
Why does fuel injection appear in game un 1968, while Chevy introduced it in 1957 ?
I don't know if it's a different thingy, but if it is I'd like to know if it will be in game or what it is if it's already in, but under the Carburettors... (I doesn't make sense to me)

Re: Fuel Injection in '68 ?

As has been stated many times in various places: technology year is NOT the year where things first appeared, but the average year when it became mainstream in its application. Chevy was ahead of the curve with technology, so they got access to it earlier than others. :)

Re: Fuel Injection in '68 ?

I see...
But if we do want to have an advantage on others, will be able to do such thing earlier ? And how to recreate an engine with the year's specs then ? Was it that costly ? And what about 60's F1 engines who needed to be fuel injected ?
While thinking about this, I am wondering how this will be recreated in-game : will the mainstream year make the part available to everybody who didn't research it earlier ?

EDIT : One last thing : I saw that the location of the factory implies different costs : how is that calculated ? Is it taking in count the place and year's man cost ? Is it also based on the materials' average stock exchange for the year, or is it just a ratio ?

1. Yup, exactly that, Research will allow you to unlock tech ahead of the mainstream year, the more ahead you want to get the more research it will take. Once that tech gets to the mainstream year, everyone can use it regardless of research.

The cost takes into account the cost of labor in that country, and also is a ratio of the difference between the tech year of the engine, and the "tooling year" of the factory. Material costs will change with market prices in the final game I'd say, but don't in the engine designer demo

Re: Fuel Injection in '68 ?

Thanks for the reply. Seems it's quite like Detroit (1990 DOS game) but way better.
Man, it seems that you always manage to do the best things in this game, realistic but fun too. You all are doing an awesome job, keep goin' ! ;)
