@KielEire: There's a minimum tyre profile limit - if your rims are too large relative to the outer diameter of the tyre, you can't make the tyre any wider.

My process is generally this:

• Increase tyre diameter as much as possible.
• Decrease rim diameter some. (Depends - some cars you can stop at 15 inches, other cars have to go down to 12 or 11.)
• Increase tyre width.
• Discover that I didn't flare the wheel arches enough.
• Go back to the trim tab (with the two cars in the symbol) in the "Model" section and increase the flare on the wheel arches.
• Go forward again to the tyre section.
• Increase tyre width to maximum (265 in this case).
• Increase rim diameter to until tyre width drops (because the profile got too small again).
• When it does, decrease rim diameter by one inch and increase tyre width back to maximum.
• Decrease wheel diameter until tyre width drops (same reason).
• Increase tyre width by 10 mm (I don't know why, but if you increase it by only 5, it doesn't work) and increase tyre width back to maximum.

This will leave you with tyres with the minimum possible profile and largest possible rims for your specific car body.

Thanks, but that isn't my problem. All the bodies for 1976 only let me use 175 mm tires when I max out the width. It leaves my cornering stat at .71 g (93.2 mph) for 250 m, which is frankly rubbish. Is it my game or is it me?

Decrease the size of the rim/increase the heigth of the tire.
Be sure you flare out the fenders.




And while I'm at it, be ready for another medicre LHE addition to this years BRC!

If your car is reliable, safe and fuel efficient, that should be quite good I think. My NA car is a mid 2.21, that should be good on fuel, reaches about 280. My other entrant is quite a bit faster but might end up pitting every lap. See how it goes.

I'm got them on identical strategies to try and best compare the approaches. Both using the same MR body. Wanted to use a V12, but, for this competition I think it's not really viable. Would like to know if anyone has had success with one.

Am considering making a video to share some tips and show how I go about making my car(s).

Does the last lua file shown on the black screen belong to the car you want to submit? If not, move it elsewhere. If yes, send me the Automation export of your car so that I can take a look.

I'd like some more information on the estimated fuel consumption, to see if there is such a thing as an optimal power/consumption point. I'm getting high 2:22s but my formula derived consumption is 80kg/h, using r = 0.75, which is significantly less than, say, puffster's 'conservative' entry. So the next question is just how less often am I expecting to pit, and will that be enough to make up the deficit of nearly 2s/lap. Best case scenario I'd be looking for 7 minutes worth of pitstops........ something tells me that's not happening.

Time to increase the fuel consumption!

V12 would be too expensive and unwieldy for this contest, I feel. I went V8, but I wouldn't be surprised if V6 was just as good if not better. Then again I'm definitely not aiming for the stars, my track record with BROBOT based events is pretty mediocre.

If your car is reliable,

if 68 total reliability and high 40-ish reliability engine is 'reliable'

safe and

safe? pfft. in fact im using a Ladder chassis, with roughly 20 safety points right now

fuel efficient,

not as thirsty as the other guys, but not as fast as the other guys. i haven't counted the fuel consumption for my latest car, but since it's a big one, the fuel is still gonna take a while before it's gone and needs to stop. even with the fuel mix to the max.

also <-1 degree camber angle i think is gonna help in the long run.

i really feel like v8 is the only way to go unless you're using a smaller MR body.
v12 are too expensive,
v6 can't rev as high,
but i actually haven't tried an inline 6 engine, but it's heavy and really shifts the weight way up front which was the reason i haven't tried it.
i4 is actually okay except for the fact it doesn't have enough pistons to get the capacity up for the POWAH

and turbo are just too primitive at this point in time that it's not really worth it losing all that drivability.

FOR ALL THOSE HAVING TROUBLE WITH BRCTOOL:

Have you tried removing all other vehicles from the models and trims folder (shouldn't need to do it for the engines), run BRC Tool as 'Administrator' and then tried it?

I had similar issues, but doing that fixed it for me.

Alright, here is my NA V8 powered grocery getter.... still needs some work, waiting to see how it pans out in the race. ALSO, how are you guys cutting out your cars to put on different backgrounds? The technique I use to use is suddenly giving really poor edge results, but yours all look very clean.

When you are in game, press the "tilde" key (upper left corner of your regular keys, to the left of 1 and above tab generally. Gives you this symbol | ) This opens the command window. Type HideBuildings() and press enter, and voila, you got a black background

This worked for me, was an older car making trouble for me. So either move cars or rename them with 000 at the front so they end up at the top and the tool don't look through the list, thanks for the solution!

You literally had a step by step explanation on how to get wider tires.

I found that giving my second car a respray makes it loose 20 kg. Thereofore both gonna be orange.

I shaved off quite some time off my ''eco'' trim and it's doing low 2:21.xx
My second ''fuel burner'' got more camber and wider front tires and went sonic trough the 2:20.xx wall

Edit: With -1.7 Camber and 122 kg/h comsumption a time just below 2:19.00 ist possible
