Re: Automation Engine Designer Demo Feedback Thread

In options I have economy set to litres/100km, and yet economy shows up as g/kWh. Why is that, and wtf is g/kWh? I've never seen fuel economy ever listed in that way before. Always thought fuel economy was listed as MPG or l/100km.

Personally I'd like to see manhours and MTBF return rather than production units and reliability score of 0-100.

Re: Automation Engine Designer Demo Feedback Thread

Ahh, this old question.

Ponder this, how many miles does the engine travel on its test stand per revolution? :P

Re: Automation Engine Designer Demo Feedback Thread

the engine is not connected to anything so has no way of figuring out mileage g/kw is how static engines are rated.

Re: Automation Engine Designer Demo Feedback Thread

Hi everyone!

Guys have you looked into the 100% cpu thing yet? It's summer now and this tends to shut down my PC after playing the demo for like 30min.
Hope its not something serious since this tends to be very annoying

Re: Automation Engine Designer Demo Feedback Thread

Should now be fixed. As long as you're playing full screen it will V-Sync (framerate limit) and not use 100% cpu. If you're playing it windowed you're out of luck however.

Also you should really look into how your PC's cooling is working, you should really be able to run 100% CPU indefinitely even on 40C+ days on a properly cooled PC :S

Re: Automation Engine Designer Demo Feedback Thread

Nope, it's not working. Even when automation is minimised its still using 100% CPU. Full screen or windowed, I don't see any difference :(

Only "solution" so far is to only run it on one core.

The definition and explanation for both "forged H beam" and "I beam steel" conrods are identical.

Uh... yeah that's probably going to make it run like a massive pile of dung..

I just noticed this too. I have a fairly good PC, and yet I'm running 100% on one core and between 70-90% on the other core. My PC is also Overclocked to 3.3Ghz atm. Now I am running messengers and music, and yet that is insane.

Re: Automation Engine Designer Demo Feedback Thread

PLEASE get rid of those shiny mirror-finish bits. The box and cylinder-shaped object on the floor near the engine. They look horrible and don't fit in with the rest of the shop. Also the flywheel should look more like a flywheel and not have a mirror finish also.

A poster or two on the walls would be a nice touch: a car, a woman, something like that. Maybe a window or two as well. Of course this is just the engine builder, though I hope the shop will be more shop-like. Have a few tools laying around maybe? =P

Also, right now all the head covers say "Automation" on them. I hope in the future we can choose the colour and what they say "DOHC EFI 2.0" or something of our choosing.

Re: Automation Engine Designer Demo Feedback Thread

Haven't had time to give the engine dyno room much love lately, does need improving.

Yeah, the chrome stuff needs to be made a lot less shiny, its pretty horrid right now!

We have a poster, but I'm going to whip up some more for sure! :)

The head covers can't really have custom text as that's really hard to implement properly (it would have to generate its own normal maps and all kinds of hateful stuff)

Flywheel will also be less chrome, but they are QUITE shiny - http://f1racingclutchsystem.com/images/ ... teelfw.jpg

Ah cool. I've never really seen a brand new flywheel before. Also, the only shiny things that bother me are the side of the engine block that faces the flywheel, and the box and cylinder on the floor that i think are connected to the dyno.
