I'm unsurprised with my result as I chose to closely model my car on what could have been theoretically feasible for your average Comrade citizen to achieve. Since my competition company has Communist history links but a more relaxed attitude towards automobile ownership, I used that link to make up a plausible back-story to justify any changes I made. I also kept the engine bay relatively the same so that if an inspector looked in the bay they'd still be (relatively) unaware of the changes (especially since he has to drive the car to work everyday,

).
I did an alternate variant that used only the clunker and part changes that could have been done by the owner and that was at least 8 sec faster around the track than the stock car!
Basically I had so much fun in my self created story that the result is irrelevant; my reward was in the participation
I'm looking forward to more of these comps as having a roleplay element really puts spice into what can become a painfully formulaic challenge!
