Re: BRC 1966 - Gentleman Brobots Club [RACE 2 P&Q]

@DeusExMackia: Actually, as Riso said, you can pretty much take fuel and tyres both times for free. If you went with 33/67 and skipped refueling on the second pit stop, you'd have to take 34.8 kg of fuel on the first stop and be carrying an extra 17.4 kg in the middle third of the race. Taking fuel on both means taking only 17.4 kg on each (probably less, actually; especially if it rains), which you can do in less than 10 seconds.

...I just realized that this is something Der Bayer mentioned in the middle of the stream that not everyone may have caught: refueling and tyre changes happen simultaneously, refueling is 2 kg/s, and tyre changes are a random length between 10 and 15 seconds. If you're taking less than 20 kg at each stop, fuel is free while you change your tyres ... and if you're taking more than 30 kg, tyres are free while you refuel.

Re: BRC 1966 - Gentleman Brobots Club [RACE 2 P&Q]

@packbat. im really sorry if i offended you.
i really did the wording wrong. i never meant for it, nor did i fussed about the gender....
it's the you're a trans woman part that nagged me. not the part that you're a woman itself.

and by that i meant like, it's the same when "i discovered some random fact that has totally nothing to do with me, or effect me in any way possible, but i can't forget it anyway"

moving on.
now that i see the track. i see less 'mushroom' and more like a hand holding a big glass fist. and i hope for another storm on race time. my car seems to do way better in the rain for some absurd reason.

also maybe worth mentioning. the length of the pit lane is way shorter here, this may effect time spent going to the pits, so maybe going a little bit safer and go for 2 stops strategy might not give me as much time penalty here.

also im still wondering... how does my front tire wear is similiar to my rear at times?
i have like -0.5 camber of front but -2.0 camber on the back....

Re: BRC 1966 - Gentleman Brobots Club [RACE 2 P&Q]

@koolkei: To be honest, there are only two reasons I mentioned that I'm a trans woman instead of just saying that I am a woman:
  1. I'm a baritone, and most people associate that vocal register with masculinity.
  2. People previously believed I was a man in this space, and my being trans explains their misapprehension.
I know society has an unhealthy obsession with LGBTQ+ people of all kinds, but unless you're providing health care to the lady in question, there's no difference between how you should respond to a trans woman and a cis woman. We're women, use feminine pronouns.

On the other subject: what's your weight distribution? I know increased weight increases tyre wear.

Also: do you have a lot of understeer? Der Bayer didn't mention that in the thread, but I was under the impression that a yaw rate line below 1:1 (edit: the red max-Sportiness line) meant more front tyre wear.

(Honestly, I think equal front/rear tyre wear is a good thing. It means the handling characteristics are going to be consistent throughout the race.)

@RocketplaneRacing: It can vary - each race is announced on the forums as it is scheduled. The next race happens on Saturday, Feb. 6th (I don't know what time).

Welp, my car is garbage.

Dont forget, if you want Packbat and I to look at the cars like we did with the last BRC just export them and send them on over to both Packbat and I.

I am starting to think that I have not put as much thought into the strategy as you guys...

Where by "as much thought", I mean I have done fuck all nothing. XD

Edit: I think for the next race, I will one stop just to avoid getting stuck behind traffic. Pending my investigation into tyre wear.

nothing make sense.
weight distribution? camber setup?
33F/67R -0.6F/-2.1R
understeer? nah, very unlikely with an MR. especially with a 205 wide tires on the front.

yet... only 1% difference between front and rear. and yes, it is impressively consistent.
the time it lost on the tire wear is made up by losing fuel weight, which resulted in an average of losing 0.03-0.08 sec per lap on that practice run.

and since i go full load on start, my fastest time will be done after i pitted, when i have new tires and likely 20-25% fuel left in the tank.

anyway. im sending my car for review :)

my car is bad too, it was a bit rushed and I was really conservative with fuel and tire consumption. Played around with it a bit today tried to make it faster once I realized that one of the reasons its slow was narrow tires (I forgot about shaping the body to enable wider tires), but couldn't make it much faster.

then made a rear engine car for a laugh and it turned out to be almost 4s/lap faster than the one I submitted prob not good for the competition cause it has only 19% engine reliability but at list it would qualify better than if I made it earlier :)

ps I know cars can't be changed mid season was just trying to make something that could in theory do respectable pace

Happy deliberations! (I'm planning to look over the Silverstone race results later - I suspect pit strategy may have gained me multiple places in that race.)

Yep. Car sent in also. You two are going to be reviewing cars up until the last race if all 69 drivers send one in for review. ;)
