Definitely a heavy engine. Some 265kg of V8 iron measuring 4.3L (265 cubic inches) of glorious American displacement!
My engine weighs nearly as much as some of the not-sprites!!

SOHC and DOHC did actually exist even long before 1955. Earliest example of DOHC to pop straight into my head is the Lamborghini 350GT in the early '60s I believe. But even that is far from the first.
