Re: Automation Community Racing

I looked at my singleplayer lap times and decided that I still need some practise before joining the multiplayer. Damn nice game this Live for Speed though, works great on my machine (fps capped at 100 and never dips below it) and the force feedback feels good. I'll probably buy the S2 license later.

Re: Automation Community Racing

Was a pretty successful night! Added a few events at the end including an 18 lap endurance, was quite fun.

Race 2 FBM GP track 3 laps
1. mer_at 2. UltimateBMWfan 3. Jakgoe 4. Trackpaduser 5.T16 6. Pyrlix

Race 3 GTI class RX track 5 laps
1. Traackpaduser 2. T16 3. UltimateBMWfan 4.mer_at

Race 4 GTI class GP track 6 laps
1. T16 (Yay again) 2. UltimateBMWfan 3. mer_at 4. Trackpaduser 5.Pleb 6. Pyrlix

Race 5 FBM RX 4 laps (complete chaos)

That was the scheduled races, we did a few more afterwards including the 18 lap endurance which UltimateBMWfan won in the FBM and overall and trackpaduser won the GTI class.

I hope to see more of you out there next time :D

A shame I missed it due to work! I'm going to start playing with the wheel in preparation for future dates, very exciting.

How fast are you guys going with the FBM from a standing start? I'm around 1:25, with a modified standard setup

Re: Automation Community Racing

I think my laps were around 1:18.XX in the FBM at blackwood, but I'm not sure about the standing start. I was in the XFG at first but got punted out by Pleb on the first corner  and Roland challenged me (with chocolate) to win the race with the FBM with 1 lap down, it was pretty easy in the end, even with two pit stops. Jakgoe would have beat me since he was with the FBM at the start but somehow got so many penalties, so ended up just doing donuts.

Re: Automation Community Racing

It was pretty amazing how quickly you got to first place with the FBM - but then again... its 20s faster per Lap than your regular XFG.
I think we all agree that we need S1 or S2 to make more serious racing :D

Re: Automation Community Racing

It takes quite a bit of practice to get the lines right. I'm still finding getting the braking point tricky as the kerbs of BL1 are fairly unforgiving, if you go wide you lose tons of speed but if you cut, the damn kerb pushes you back out and pushes you off line for the next corner!

I think in the FBM I averaged 1:18-9, but I'm horribly inconsistent :D

Re: Automation Community Racing

I really need to have some of your setups for examination, my cars have zero grip, they just slip all over the track.

I got my XFG to brake smoothly, but it wildly flails it's hatchy arse all over the place

Re: Automation Community Racing

We need longer races.
Like ~45mins long, including a mandatory pitstop.
E.g. in the FBM that would enable people to use R2 for the first stint and R1 for the last few laps. ;)

Re: Automation Community Racing

I totally agree on ulukay - a long endurance race.
45m or 1h - I dont care.
The last race we did after the crazy ass Formula BMW Rallycross was a 18lap race on Blackwood with XFGs.

Also: More people! A 15 people long endurance race is more interesting that with just... 7.

Press F and go outside to view tyre loads and punt the car down the straight before brake testing. Likely you will see the rear brake bias is too strong. Just move it more to the front to the point you don't see the arrows turning angry red for any of the wheels.

EDIT: FBM is capable of a flying 1:17 at least, on not-quite-warmed tyres in stock setup... but the lines change a fair bit because rubbing the kerbs with even a little too much throttle and suddenly SO MUCH SIDEWAYS. After practicing so much with the other cars it's another learning curve!
