Lua Error: indexing nil values

Hello people,

I finally got my first paycheck :D and decided to grab the $35 package of this game, I've been lurking for a while and decided that I should give you guys some money for your great effort.

However... I can't get it to run :?

The launcher starts, the latest build (1418) is downloaded and installed, but as soon as I click play game I get the following two errors:
- [string "--client\start scripts\init.lua..."]:205: attempt to index global 'DisplaySettings' (a nil value)
- [string "--client\start scripts\main.lua..."]:13: attempt to index a nil value

Then I get an Exception message, saying:

Exception on Automation Exit
Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.

I've done very little lua in the past, and I understand the error code, I just don't have the tools to troubleshoot it myself.

What should I do to fix this problem :?:

Re: Lua Error: indexing nil values

Try a full uninstall and reinstall first. Use a fresh downloaded version of the launcher too.

Re: Lua Error: indexing nil values

The Exception on Automation Exit is something a few others have experienced. Try uninstalling the game, deleting your Documents/Automation folder, then reinstall and update the game, that has worked for everyone else with that problem. :)

THIS!! Sometimes config files get left behind and can still cause a problem on a "fresh" install, the uninstaller doesnt always delete them for you.

Delete the registry entry as well.

Re: Lua Error: indexing nil values

Did the reïnstall, the problem still exists. I've uninstalled with Revo and I removed the C:\PF(x86)\Automation folder manually. When I reïnstalled with a new launcher file, I had to download the latest patch again, as it was back to version 0. However, all that didn't have any effect. I've done this thing a few times over now, hoping to solve it, but nope :(.

Unfortunately the entire team is away on a marketing trip with limited access to PCs. But I'll see what we can do to sort you out.

---------------------------
Lua Error:
---------------------------
tolua++ dbcall failed!: [string "--shared\functional\SANDBOX_DATA\CEngineCalcu..."]:83: attempt to call method 'CalculateEngineScales' (a nil value)

I got this one.

What can I do to solve this?

Same problem. Shit happens. Do a clean install.
