Engine converter corrupts files [file recovery?]

I have been having issues when I try and send people cars, they have been getting these two errors,

tolua++ dbcall failed!: [string "--client\functional\CarView.lua..."]:2781: attempt to index local 'headLightInfo' (a nil value)

and

tolua++ dbcall failed !: [string '--client\functional\PlatformDesignerWindowDel..."]:1334: attempt to index (a nil value)

I have sent 'blank' cars with no headlights or fixtures and no areo and these errors still occur, then I will rebuild the exact car and it will work. I'm not sure whether is an error on my end, a problem with my files or a just a glitch of some sort. I am able to send the engines used in the cars just fine, so i think the problem has something to do with the model, I have no idea. Sometimes I can't even open up some of my own cars in Sandbox mode.

When I hosted my 'clunker' competition over 40 people were able to download and use that car, I haven't done anything different since, except download a couple mods. I did a complete un-install and re-install and then re downloaded the mods and am still getting the errors.

Re: file sharing errors

Does it run into problems without the mods though? That would be my first guess for why stuff gets incompatibility issues. Of course in the long run modding needs to work without these kinds of problems, but it can't be a priority to fix this right now if it turns out to be the source of the problems. :)
Cheers!

Re: file sharing errors

When I first re installed I only had a couple of the mods on and wasn't able to access some of my cars (had modded fixtures) so I re added all of the mods.

Re: file sharing errors

I am doing a complete un install and re install and am going to be downloading the mods one at time to test and see what mod or combo of mods is messing everything up. Cars I made without any mods were even having issues opening -_-

Re: file sharing errors

I did another uninstall and reinstall and with Leonardos help discovered 2 things:

1) wizzys grills cause some problems, thumbs wont match up to the proper grills and may sometimes cause in game crashes

2) the beamNG engine converter 'corrupts' files. If you import a 'model' like it recommends for best performance as opposed to just importing an engine that file gets changed somehow and it can not be opened if you send it to other people, and sometimes is no longer openable to the person who made the file.

Re: file sharing errors [problem found]

Good finds :) would be great if you posted these issues in the creators' respective threads for them to take a look into the matter if they can.
Cheers!

Re: file sharing errors [problem found]

Does anybody think they could help me fix or recover this file? It is one of Prato Motor Company's iconic models and its is not openable without crashing the game because of the engine converter. Does anyone think they could look at the script/code and fix it?
