Allow classic bodies in newer production years!

Not sure if this is the appropriate place to make suggestions for the new beta release, but I really don't like the change that only allows you to use certain body types in certain model years. I think it makes sense to not allow certain bodies BEFORE a certain year, IE not having a modern car made in 1945, but like other aspects of the designer once the year is past the minimum requirement (1975 for the small crx-esque 3-door hatchback, for example) it should be usable in any year after that. You often see modern cars made with retro styling (Morgan, Mustang/challenger/camaro, etc.) or cars that simply maintain largely the same styling over a large time period (VW Beetle and Porsche 911 come to mind) so why shouldn't the game allow us to do the same? Also, only having 4 or so body styles in 2014 is pretty disappointing. I know there will likely be more eventually, but why can't we utilize the ones that already exist?

Don't worry, Daffy is busy creating a sort of retro muscle car model for 00-10 (not sure which), and new bodies for '10 are being made too.

Still, I have to agree with Psh. It makes sense but you can always modernize old designs. I think it's brilliant.

Some older models have really typical period features though, like the bumpers, and wheel arch sizes, so I'm not sure if ALL should be available. You may not notice it, but the shapes of the cars slowly evolved, a prime example of this is the 911. The modern ones have a way more aerodynamic shape.

Won't disagree with that. But hey, maybe models updated to the period? That's a hell of a lot of extra work though.

It'll all depend on the budget Automation will have available, but hopefully editing a shell to be more modern is way faster than making one from scratch.

Actually, modern retro bodies will be separate ones, with thicker pillars, bulkier (and painted) bumpers. Today's livestream saw a not-Falcon body being modified to have a modern retro appearance.

Re: Allow classic bodies in newer production years!
Tycoon game wise I'd say you'll be able to keep making a body style for ever, but it'll have safety limitations, if you're still make an original Beetle in 2010, the safety laws would make it illegal to sell in most first world countries.
So yes, it will be more nuanced I think, but we still won't let you use a half century old body style and sell it as a brand new safe car, as that'd be simply impossible in reality. Lots of the reason new cars look like they do is regulations driven.
It is reasonably quick to model modernized retro bodies though (softer corners, fatter pillars, less chrome bumpers etc.) So we will do quite a few of those for your "retro revival" designs (e.g Mustang, Mini, SLS Gullwing)

If you're saying that just on the feedback I've given on beta there's so much more to love!

Re: Allow classic bodies in newer production years!
I dig this. This really should happen. Anybody know of the Plymouth Prowler? If no search it. I would love to make some throwback designs
