Re: Lightweight High Performance Coupe/Roadster competition

@salen00b: I was talking with Gt1Cooper and he said that you have to set the cooling level appropriately, so unless your engine gets a good enough MTBF with 0 cooling then you need to redo your tests. (To see what the MTBF is like with the correct cooling, revise your engine in the car designer with the cooling set at whatever level the final test will be at)

I saw the call for a high performance roadster and, as has been my way since the suzuki escudo in gran turismo 3, I immediately tried to make the most powerful thing I could manage :D I will probably have another crack at the handling tomorrow to see if i can improve it a bit.

Results (with the nerfed responsiveness):
responsiveness: -46.5
redline: 0
0-100: 66
1/4 mile time: 75
1/4 mile speed: 42
top speed: 50
cornering: 0
braking: 10.24 (converted my car to feet using google then used that scoring)
Economy: -31.8 UKMPG or -36.2 USMPG (wasn't sure which you were using)
loudness: 0

Total: 164.94 (UK MPG), 160.54 (US MPG)

Engine:

Platform:
Competition - Rev - 0.lua
(17.43 KiB) Downloaded 255 times

Model:
Competition.lua
(87.13 KiB) Downloaded 245 times

(you will have to adjust the tyres and brake disks to the maximum sizes possible/allowed since they don't seem to save properly)

Yes, i was mad enough to try and make a high power V8 turbo engine fit in these rules :D
Image
the MTBF figure comes from the car with the vents set at the level it is set at in the screenie below (aka, max ventilation).
Image

*edit*
Just for fun i tried my car with all the vents blocked up. i get 213.7 or 208.7 points, depending on whether i use UK or US mpg (but the MTBF would be 0 for sure). And i got a top speed of 262.2mph

Re: Lightweight High Performance Coupe/Roadster competition

I do think there is something wrong here, I will mention it to the devs. At 12 degrees, your outside tires will be around 11 degrees positive camber, and only the sidewall will be in contact. No way to pull 1.4 g's.

Oh bugger, thats still miles ahead of me.
*selfish mode activate*
maybe its worth adding a maximum roll angle into the restrictions? My car is a similar weight to salen00b's and with my roll angle I cant get much more than 1.00g

Stop... you are making a mockery of the competition, as well as physics.

Re: Lightweight High Performance Coupe/Roadster competition

I'm deferring my revision until the scoring is finalized. I found the same glitch in cornering earlier. Applying very, very soft suspension settings and extreme negative camber coupled with the proper tires (largest doesn't always work best) yields insane cornering numbers.

Re: Lightweight High Performance Coupe/Roadster competition

The extreme g-Forces are indeed resluting from a bug in the camber calculations. They are already fixed in the closed beta version, so in the next update competitions like this one will make more sense. ;)

Alright. So, based off of this, I think I will wait until the next update, where I will start a new competition. Don't think I am just gonna drop this :)

I actually posted my I4, not my V8

Will repost later if the result is any good. Too many motors, not enough time.
