Re: Photoshoot of the car

I would like a showroom background.

Also I think that you should be able to import pictures as backgrounds. It would be a nightmare for the programmers ;) but a great feature.

Re: Photoshoot of the car

Not a nightmare actually to program. You could just have a directory where the images are located and drag them in there before starting up the game.
But finding GOOD pictures as a player is the issue, as gettings your car to line up with it will be a hard time.

I was worried that this would be the case. Maybe if the player positioned the car and aligned it with the background, however if you look at the other environments (rooms) they are all 3d models, So the photoshoot room would also need to be A 3d environment for a good affect.at this moment in time it is probably better to just photoshop The images, But the developers need to add a feature to turn off the lighting Which would add effect when using Photoshop.

Re: Photoshoot of the car

I was personally thinking about something like in Need for Speed Underground, like this:

But then, of course, without the girl, but with titles like "The brand new [CARNAME] with 2.0L Turbo, we tested it!" Or something like that. We could make up things.

The next step, which requires more work but could just be that little extra, is designing (3D) an evironment, like a mountain pass with real sharp curves, or a gravel road which you can place your car on in any position, rotate it etc. If there is about 5 environments to choose from, like mountains, long straight road, silent back road, dirty road and motorway, it would be a nice start :)

Re: Photoshoot of the car

You're quite right that it would need to be a 3d environment, but damn those take a long time, getting the lighting to work nicely on the car room took DAYS of tweaking, and we've already got a whole bunch of garages for different sizes and eras on the way, so the last thing we need is more environments to work on!

Could be something to look at for future expansions, if we've got more people and money ;)

Re: Photoshoot of the car

Exactly. Thats why I personally prefer the magazines at first with the different picture backgrounds, where you can turn your car to align and fit the background and then make a picture. Maybe later on (wouldn't call or make it DLC, just a nice update for all) the environments to use :)

Magazines are not a good solution either, because over the years their styles change so much that it will be loads of work to get them right! (although it would be cool to have, of course)

Landscapes didn't change much though ;)

Comparing the work of landscapes and lighting to making 3 types of magazinecovers through the times 50s 60s 70s... etc. is a lot less work I think. So if the Developers are to add such a thing, I think the magazines are the way to go, personally.

Re: Photoshoot of the car

I've got a better idea, can we just export our cars as 3d models OR just have a green screen room?

Re: Photoshoot of the car

That would mean players without the knowledge of photoshop or any 3D modelling program wont be able to put the feature to work themselves really.
