Re: How much is a fair price for Automation

also guys im blunt because i have been in deals since i was a kid with my dad who dealt with some very big businesses which turned to my dad for pricing and advertising tips. and i mean big 1 of such was the biggest printing company in the uk tpl. and such. millions in turn over per year.
what i said people would pay to know in big business. i know you both are not thinking lightly about pricing but i was just making sure that with all the big figures flying about you did not get the $$ in your eyes. u know money blindness which gets rid of all reasoning.

Re: How much is a fair price for Automation

yeah not to good with words after a few cider's blame the nice weather. guys im far from tight lets just say im 26 got my own house and im sorted unless i go wild with the money.
look guys i edited.

also i think its only me and Killrob who actually have a background in the marketing world. the others are good guys but they are just game players. of course im not talking about you game designers as you are about to find out how hard and confusing the world of pricing and marketing really is. like zeussy said pricing it too little is bad but also too much and i do think you will need different prices for different markets to maximize your profit and overall game well being in different markets a bit like you will be doing different pricing and needs on the game for different countries.

edited again

If i use edit it wont have asmuch impact as spacing it out now does it  and i needed what i was saying to have an impact maybe it got the wrong impact at first but it should be sorted now

$40 is a fair price... but is this possible? You will have to do some marketing, to be sure that it will be sold and that all your costs will be repaid.

Re: How much is a fair price for Automation

In the U.S $40 can get 10 gallons of mid grade (89) gas or a meal of 4 1/2 at McDonalds.

I'm not bashing the quality of your work but its not worth $40
TDU2 is not worth $40 it has way better graphics.

Call of Duty Black Ops was most certainly NOT worth $60 That game had so many problems for PC it was unberrable to play the worst part you cant sell it to GameStop or anyone else because it runs of Steam.

SLRR (Street Legal Redline Racing) WAS worth $20 Only because you could mod it easly, im very pleased with SLRR

Hot Rod Garage to Glory was priced fairly at $9

I have bought simmilar games like Automation (SLRR, Hot Rod Garage to Glory, etc.) for Between $9 and $20.

$15 is a good price for Automation.

Now it will only be worth this Compleated.

If this Game will have an ease of Modding it will then be worth $25-$30.

Very good concept it will be a good profit for you guys.

Re: How much is a fair price for Automation

It certinaly sounds like (as I already knew really) we get very over priced games, given that most full price games are $80 -$110 in Australia!

TDU2 is not worth $40 it has way better graphics

*headdesk* - You're probably right that $40 is overpriced for TDU, and would also be over priced for Automation - but it sounds like you're thinking of value in terms of graphical quality and not in terms of the all round gameplay experience - from what I heard TDU was also not that much fun and just plain broken in places..

I think in the end we'll probably be going for about $20 - but that decision is a long way off still - however everyone's feedback is helpful in working out market expectations :)

Dont get me wrong this is a very great game, but it to me isnt going to get much sales at 40 bucks here in the U.S. most big name games here are $40 to $60 (COD, TDU, BF3, Halo,).Unfortunatley most people here are Basing the games on graphics quality.
i could care less about graphics it was a day ago i was playing a game from 1997 White Pixels are the Graphics lol. very good game.

Mainly its $20 here for the games with no advertisment. I only found this game by the power of youtube I have only dreamed of a game like this.

Re: How much is a fair price for Automation

Yeah, $20 - $25 is seeming most likely to be honest :)

Though anyone who judges games on graphics alone probably will never buy automation (I should know, I'm doing the art! :P )

Re: How much is a fair price for Automation

Trouble with a donations button would be that at this point we'd only get like $50 all up, which really whilst it would buy us a night at the pub, it wouldn't be that useful! :D

We'll probably fund further development through pre-orders, once we get it a bit more completed

Re: How much is a fair price for Automation

About the price, as a side note.
I just bought the game Rulers of Nations and the price was 40 euro's for a download version (as there's no way to buy it in stores around here)
I honestly almost didn't buy it because of the very high price for such a game (also very very niche)
Automation is something i am alot more interested in and it already looks more polished but 40 euro's or dollars is to much for these kind of games now that i was confronted with such a thing.
20 euro's/dollar seems spot on, a very easy buy for most people imo.

Re: How much is a fair price for Automation

Voted $30 dollars.

I would say an indie game shouldn't pass $15 or $20, but I'm so excited for this game that is filling a HUGE niche long neglected in PC gaming, that I would happily pay $30 for this game if it meant a polished product, future DLC/patches, and future sequel or other amazing games from this company.

Re: How much is a fair price for Automation

Considering the personal time involved, I was thinking of $50 US, and I see that the biggest vote option. I highly considered the time involved in making a game with limited resources. I think my love for micro management games would make my fork out a it more for an upgrade to Detroit, Car Tycoon est..

Never! We would tell you to keep your filthy money :P

This is still in the works, but lets just say there will be a few fancier options for those of you who want to spend a little more :)
