Motor City Mod

Well, this was created for myself but as we are all waiting for Automation and all know Motor City ;) here is something for it to last a little bit longer.

Thanks to the user Goran on the Abandonia forum http://www.abandonia.com/en/forum?url=showthread.php?t=4960
i was able to extend the list of engines and chassis available in the game. He already managed to get the engine count from 25 to 81 using the german version of the game and i have managed to get a total of 153 engines in there :) and on top of that bumped the chassis types from 31 to 69.
I tried to be as realistic as possible without losing to much fun.
The original game and the updated from Goran "only" have engines and chassis types upto 100hp which could be fairly realistic, but what about the airplane engines of the old days (450hp monsters with 28000cc) i put some of those in with matching weight and matching heavy chassis types.
Also used some Mercedes engines that where released in 1927-26 and some engines to fill in gaps.
So now it is possible to create a 200-250 hp sports car (that does cost alot to make) and even some supercars with more than 300hp (although due to cylinder volume these cars can weigh alot) Or an 1900 sports car with a massive engine producing 50hp (that was alot those days) and everything in between or more.

Again, thanks to Goran (for showing which files could be hex edited and where to look for) here is a nice mod for Motorcity:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PHEAMPHN
Put that file in the GFX directory of Motor City which you can download here,

Re: Motor City Mod

If i recall correctly, it's the early 20th century.
Pre-WWII if i'm correct, it's been ages since i've played this game.

Re: Motor City Mod

The time period is something like 1896 to 1929, give or take a couple years.

Re: Motor City Mod

Hehe exactly why I found Automation :P that link in that exact thread. Then I installed the mod and tried to play the game again it it was... like work ;) nahhh, then I prefer to work as a beta tester, probably the same amount of work, but at least leads somewhere :D

Re: Motor City Mod

I wish i could do beta-testing, but as thats not the case i resort to motor-city. Although it gets to be quite a drag after some time, all the clicking and stuff without actually having designed anything yourself :p.
But it is the best car bussiness game besides automation tho (when it will be released ;) )

Re: Motor City Mod

That's true... from what I've seen Motor City would be an excellent game! Just imagine a remake with all the "special UI features" being removed haha, it would be really good actually. :) The factory management and stuff was pretty well done for the time of release.

Re: Motor City Mod

The management is indeed done quite nicelly but the ui is as you said the main problem in this game. after some time it all becomes cluttered and you constantly need to look into everything, so you for example don't run low on steel :| .
But the main thing i miss in Detroit is the amount of customizing and realy producing your own engines through recearch, in Motor city this is actually pretty good for its time.

Re: Motor City Mod

Same thing, I wouldn't mind trying out motor city and this mod. However megaupload has been down for quite some time.
