Custom Inscripted Engine Covers

Hey guys,
I'm aware shortly we'll be able to choose the style and colour of the rocker/engine covers, but soon will we be able to have custom writing on it rather than just "Automation"?
Such as a "Ferrari" next to the standard "4.0 V8" or whichever specification it says on it aswell?
Thanks.

Re: Custom Inscripted Engine Covers

No custom writing, I'm afraid. AFAIK, generating the maps for it would be pretty hard to do for two-man team.

Yup, the main problem is generating the normal maps etc. that actually make it look good. We have to manually make those for all the texture using photoshop, xnormal, that kind of thing. It would be very difficult to do that in game.

Even with community help, there is no way around taking some of our time. Don't forget all of the "around" stuff that needs to be done to make that work.

Re: Custom Inscripted Engine Covers

I suppose if the models for the valve-covers were to be just flat and smooth with no 3d-features, simply just a texture on them the looks of these textures could be altered to the players liking in any image-editing software provided the textures are separate image files located in a folder loaded into the game when the top-end is being chosen.

However, ultimately in my own humble opinion this isn't really very important in this stage of development as i'd rather see energy put into a good and balanced engine-designer as a whole than paintable valve-covers.

My 5 cents.

Well, once we do mod tools you can make whatever textures you like for em :)
