Re: Hot Hatch Cup - Race 1 Results!

That's a lot of displacement for a 1400cc max competition.

But I'm stoked my Commune is representing FWD in the top 5, gogo gadget transaxle!

1393 cc Flatplane V8 here. 200 horsepower @ 10000 RPM. Rockin' the sideways engine, too. FWD and NA in 9th place.

Re: Hot Hatch Cup - Race 1 Results!

I'd contemplated using Turbo 4-cyl, but that 800cc limit pushed me to the bigger engine and going natural. I can build powerful engines, or small engines, but not powerful small engines.

As for FWD, it wasn't an easy decision to make. I wanted to do AWD, but that just ended up being way too expensive.

Re: Hot Hatch Cup - Race 1 Results!

Had to go back to my messages to figure out what car I entered. My Kalvaria was built before I understood suspension or that peak hp at redline probably isn't the best, but to get 10th place aint so bad.

With all this talk, I'll chime in and say the Kalvaria's RWD w/ a 1400cc NA I4 with 203hp. AWD was too expensive for me too and at the time (and still to some level) found turbos to too often not do what I want.

Re: Hot Hatch Cup - Race 1 Results!

How did you afford both AWD and CF??? Edit: oh yeah costs changed quite a bit between builds

I figured the power wasn't enough to send to all 4 wheels so I went RWD. And my NA v6 only packs 200hp.

Okay I really want to see the times now too, I wonder how close we are in the leader pack. Actually I just want to know if my front wheel drive NA 4 has a chance at the lead :)

I am actually surprised that you are second with 200hp. My V8 BiTurbo is producing 241hp @ 10000rpm, 200nm @ 8000rpm and a redline @12000

My laptimes were slower with an AWD setup compared to the RWD setup, due to the weight.

I first had a NA 1400cc 4 Cyl producing around 215 but the turbo was just faster on the longer tracks, despite the huge turbo lag until 8000 rpm. I think on the Top Gear Track the NA engines are going to win.

Le'ts just say that ever since I had to diversify my approach from ludicrous power, I've managed to find out how to eke out fast from less power, particularly when the drivability discrepancy between turbo and NA is so great as it currently is ;)

Re: Hot Hatch Cup - Race 1 Results!

Wow. My car is NA and has around 205hp for 720kg IIRC.
I'm quite happy by my performances. Will see how it goes in the next races, knowing I didn't set my car for the first track.

Granted I could have squeezed a full second on that track as my actual setup isn't the fastest I could have.

Might have to tweak my entry for fun :)
