Question, why does the 100MPH thing matter? Vans will never exceed 100MPH on the streets, and many might even be limited to 50 or so.

Why two mufflers instead of a noise limit?

@Microwave it's less about being able to go 100 miles an hour and more about having enough power to be able to get there. Last thing you want is for your van to stall on a hill while carrying a wedding cake.
@Riso I might change that, it just seems simpler.

Tech year = 2015?
Also is cutting the budget gaining us points or do we want to max out the budget?

I would be surprised if anybody seriously built a utility vehicle with polymer as environmental resistance would be affected. Carbon fiber would be superior in every way but holy hell you'll blow your budget big time for sure so that's pretty much precluded. I think that focusing on scoring env. Resist might be a more effective discriminant as it'll give people freedom to choose but penalise those who make dumb design decisions (e.g. fibre glass lol). It's not bad the way it is now thought.
I find that utility is also dependent on power so the 100mph minimum may additionally restrict things like gearing and aero (aero on a van... Well.) So I'm not sure if it is necessary. Then again in terms of mandating a certain range of entries, it may help maintain a more even playing field.
I am crap at these kinds of challenges but as one of the more organised ones currently I might give it a shot for lolz.

if i wanted to use the older van body type, the it doesn't have 2 seats option only 4.
so that type of body is completely prohibited?
also. which part of the world is this targeted at?

12000 Budget is for total cost or retail price on the market?

@Tycondero You want to max the budget. The money is going to spent either way. Try to cut service costs if anything.
@JasonPoland If you have the guts to make a carbon fiber Van, then by all means.
@koolkei it really doesn't matter because I'll be judging the cars in the Same spot, so it's still a matter of lowest cost. I suppose as long as it can reach the cargo minimum I'll change the amount of seats.
@NormanVauxhall It's the total production cost. Retail isin't really relevant here because whoever takes the biggest loss in profit would automatically win.

How are you calculating service costs? Just going off of the first running cost number?

Hopefully not. If you press detail stats and go to running costs, there is a number on the far left column titled "service costs". I'd imagine it'd be this number. If not, I'm going to come last for sure.

And that is why I ask, service/running costs are region based now, just want to know what region and which stat exactly I need to use.
