The 1992 Hatchback Competition

Story

The Iron Curtain fell not too long ago and your East German company has to adjust to the new market. The old 1979 Hatch Deluxe wont do it anymore compared to the foreign cars from Japan. You need to design a hatchback or sedan to sell in your neighboring countries but is still purchasable by your Soviet Satellites. "Why not make two models" you ask. "Factory does not have the capacity and we do not have money" says your boss. Time to get the team to work...

Rules

Body and Engine may be made between 1982-1992
Trim and Variant must be made in 1992
Must be a 3, 4, or 5 door body
Must weigh under 1500 kg
Minimum Drivability of 30
Minimum Efficiency of 5km/l
Maximum 250 kw of Engine Power
No V12's
Minimum Safety of 20
Maximum Emissions of 1500
Maximum cost of $18000 (cost in the Market tab with a %5 profit margin)
No Sequential Gearboxes (DSG not made until 2009 so don't try :) )
Must be able to be sold in Gasmia
The High Quality Essentials pack and the 80s European Family Car are the only mods allowed
All Cars Must Be in the Standard (aka Public) Release (no Open Beta due to stability reasons)

rules are no longer being changed. Form now on they are what they are!

Grading

1 point will be given to the winner of each category. All grading will be done in the Gasmia region. The categories for a market group are calculated by taking all the sub - categories and adding them up. Example: City = City + City Eco+ etc. The categories are:

Best City rating
Best Family rating
Best Commuter rating
Most Reliable
Most Efficient
Highest Utility
Easiest to Drive
Comfiest
Safest
Sportiest
Cheapest
Best Looking (graded by me unless I can not decide)
and My Personal Favorite Pick (I will provide explanation)

The winner gets a manual with pretty picture of their car! I will write a user manual with some maintenance and use tips. I will make the manual downloadable for everyone. As for the picture of the car I will probably use a picture like this
Image

For 1st ,2nd, and 3rd I will make certificates! If you win it would be funny if you could print out a certificate, sign it, and take a picture of it. I will post it on the thread!

Re: The 1992 Hatchback Competition

Wouldn't the year being 1992 be one of the rules?
Also, you didn't specify public release or open beta.
I fear this competition will never be finished.

The 1992 Hatchback Competition REASONS FOR NO OPEN BETA

There is a stability reason on my end where files are corrupted. I am sure it will be fixed for the next competition but for the competition there will be NO OPEN BETA cars
Sorry but that is the way it will have to be :(

Re: The 1992 Hatchback Competition

I didn't even build a car.
How can you make a certificate for a car that literally doesn't exist.

Minimum Emissions of 1500

I assume that's supposed to be maximum?

Re: The 1992 Hatchback Competition

i don't know if i will be on this bandwagon just because of the non-beta rules.

switching to beta and non-beta for every competition is a pain.

Re: The 1992 Hatchback Competition

The Non-beta rule is my only gripe.

I will make my car (And hope to all hell that it doesn't fuck with my other cars)

Re: The 1992 Hatchback Competition

4 door hatchback?

Also don't seems very difficult to stay under 1500 kg in 1992... Or better than 5 km/l.

Shouldn't be more restricting those rules?

Re: The 1992 Hatchback Competition

First Order Automotive would like to present the 1992 Komrade.

This car is for everyone...except racers.....or important people.....or even people who like to be noticed driving down the road.

An old crisp packet looks more interesting than this car.

But it does have some interesting features.

Fuel economy of 15.86 km/l (that's 44.8 mpg for the collonials!)
Excellent safety and very good handling.

It doesn't have
power - 44.7 KW (59.9 hp)
speed - 158.9 km/h (98.7mph)
sportiness
prestige
outstanding comfort
supermodel looks (in fact we think it looks like a 3 piece Airfix kit for 3 year olds to put together).

But for $10,185 you get a basic and economical city or commuter car with the added bonus of it being unstealable (because joy riders wouldn't be seen dead driving it!!)

I want to use the beta too but for stability reasons on my end it can not be done :(
