Regular Communist (1986) - Racing and Car Rating! [FINAL]

Image

Hello everyone - welcome to the

Regular Communist

Challenge.

Its not as simple as the last one. The last communist trophy was a simple race - this one is a whole lot different! It consists racing AND a individual car customer rating like many other challenges here do. So you have to make a car that is capable of going fast around 4 random tracks, but also one that is appealing to the soviet customers who have to wait a bit for their cars.

So the year... its 1986, shit happend over in chernobyl and Gorbatschow is the General Secretary of the CPSU for more than one year and the future is a bit blurry. The statesmen responsible for the car industry thought it would be time to look for a few new cars to produce and handed out a total of 20 proposal requests to various car manufactors all over the Soviet Union.
The Statesmen want to have a car for the people of the soviet union, but they also noted that they - the statesmen - want to take it to trackdays around the planet, so it has to be fast on a track...

And you should know, russian people only get a limited amount of the precious 91RON Fuel per month, so the car has to be economic. The roads between Minsk and Lavrentiya vary highly in quality... tarmac, dirt-road, no road, everything can happen, so it should have some off-road capability and some protection against rust in the first 2 weeks. Then the farmers have to be able to bring their potatoes to the public state market at once - so it should have practicality, cargospace and utility. And... well... it should not fall apart or blow up after a long trip, and the services should be cheap.

Rules:

Version must be the most recent one with workshop support
Year is 1986
Fuel is 91 Octane - Regular Unleaded
Only Assist allowed is Power Steering
Atleast 4 Seats
Only the following car bodies are allowed:

Total Costs: Aim for 6500$ - but its open to you. Hard Limit is 8500 though.

How does it work?

See conans UCC
It utilizes the same formula and concept of the calculation.
All cars will be run through this formula and compared inbetween to see how good they are for the people. After that they will be raced on 4 random tracks (to be announced)
Race Scoring will be announced as soon as i have all entries in, but its pretty much the same as in the communist trophy. But a first place in the car rating equals 4 won races. So the cars that will be pure-racebreed will get quite a hefty penalty and can be annihilated by average cars. Its pretty much the first challenge of this kind, we'll see if the if this effect is too extreme or not.

Re: Regular Communist (1986) - Racing and Car Rating!

Will non Russian companies be allowed to design the car for sale by a domestic company in Russia.

Example: the Plymouth Colt was a Mitsubishi Galant.

Totally, everyone can compete, but only the bodies in the rules are allowed :)

The challenge may seem open as fuck, but its a huge compromise everywhere

Re: Regular Communist (1986) - Racing and Car Rating!

Next question, though clearly labeled for use of 91 octane, you also mentioned the rationing of 91 RON.

Will 80 RON submissions count, or should I am for the 91 limit.

Re: Regular Communist (1986) - Racing and Car Rating!

Feel free, but you should really aim for 91 Ron.

Also a little rule change: Best Consumer Car counts like 4 Won Races!

Race Scoring System will be 20-17-15-13-11-10 and Consumer 80-70-60-55-45-40 etc.. 4 Races in total.

Re: Regular Communist (1986) - Racing and Car Rating!

The entry from LHE, the Famsed Mark II, the flop from the 1980 Family Haulers is back with some re-tuning in mind for the Russian market.

The turbocharged X4-M80-P76.2T has been replaced with the slightly newer NA E-Series X4-M86-E76.2, the gearbox swapped, and the body slightly refined. Switching to polymer body panels and a corrosion resistant frame to help deal with the snow and ice the car was picked up by AZLK for import.

The car was expected to sell as a stop gap while the glorious Soviet auto manufactures were bringing up production of home made vehicles.

You need to be logged in to access to the workshop.

Since you are probably not logged in on your browser, it doesn't let you access it when following most links to workshop items.

Re: Regular Communist (1986) - Racing and Car Rating!

The People's Party Congress subcommittee on car designs has authorised foreign engineer Riso to enter and present his car for the competition to select the 1986 People's Car.

It has a robust and reliable 74 hp Inline-4 engine, a three-way catalytic converter to emphasise the Soviet Union's commitment to the environment and very advanced safety features not found even in the most decadent western capitalist designs! We took great care to consider the utility and practicality of this vehicle and resistance to the elements!

Furthermore for the pleasure and entertainment of the people we have provided a cassette recorder so they may listen to the newly produced tapes of famous CPSU speeches and discourses on marxist-lennist theory.

And all that for the low low price of [6499.69$].

OT, but it had to be said, in communist countries at least in europe, it was discouraged to read Marx's literature, maybe because they'd wise up and discover how much they were NOT LIVING in a legit communist place

Put round headlights on there and it would look like a '70s Opel Ascona A. Nice.

That is why you can only get properly curated Marxist-Lenninist tapes, duh.

I wasn't even thinking about that. I just figured I was making an ugly car!

Re: Regular Communist (1986) - Racing and Car Rating!

I took my inspiration from the GAZ-24-24 which has a 5.53L aluminium V8 with a whooping 200Hp xd My concerns is that its a bit to thirsty with its 9.8L/100km. But at least did i manged to build a 200hp V8 that costs under 6.5K =D
