I guess I need to revise my entry. I'm about to get pushed off the bottom of the list!

Re: Top15 sports car challenge (1st Elouda 1:12.44 airfield)

Hey you have the times wrong: my time is 1:12.36 and elouda has 1:12.24!

But don't worry about updating my time for now, I'll be back later... ;)

EDIT: And here we are, I got a bit of time before I go to work.

As you can see I'm starting to shift the costs around so I've sacrificed some reliability (took off the quality from the block... it's expensive). I've also changed block material from AlSi to Al. I don't like that change but it's given me some room to move. To do this I also had to sacrifice a couple hundred rpm.

I've also had to improve chassis quality slightly, but not too much. Costs and weight increase dramatically after a point.

Frankly the fundamentals of my build are starting to reach its limits. I suspect Elouda has much more room in theirs.

Room? Where do I apply for this thing?

Pretty much just a matter of juggling sliders for me at this point, I can't really afford to cut or increase anything else anywhere. At some point I just get a combination that 'clicks' that little bit better than the last one, and so another few hundredths are gone.

That's the killer isn't it. That you never quite know if you can go any further until you actually do, after which it becomes this near endless exercise in jiggling the sliders around until you can go no further... or can you?

Every time I get into one of these it becomes a several-week-long protracted battle. The only thing that stops it is a lack of time. Which is why it might be some days before I come back to this!

Purely out of spite here's my steel framed, front engined, 2 liter 4 cylinder, Wasp. I unfortunately lost my Spyder file, but this car seems a bit better anyway.
*Whoops, I posted the wrong picture. I'll have the stats page up after work.*

Hardly half.

Yours has 25% (~115hp) less than mine. Your engine weighs 66% (~50kg) less than mine. Your car weighs 85% (~200kg) less than mine. Your time is only .75 seconds faster. We're close on boost pressure, but you're about 1.3 PSI (~0.1 bar) more than I am.

That being said, good job with yours. You win an internet cookie. :D But you're still in 8th place, so keep working on it.

Re: Top15 sports car challenge (1st Strop 1:12.19 airfield)

The most I got, 1.12.53
I remember that thought that I should change the way this car has been built for trying to get that low 1.12... but , well, it's enough atm :)
