Automation Touring Car Championship 2 [FINAL RESULTS]

Image

This second season of the ATCC is now based on the not-so-famous Group A rules. Created in 1983, this has always been on the shadows of group B rules, but one could argue that this is the more important class. Cars like the BMW M3, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, Lancia Delta Integrale, Mercedes 190E Cosworth, Ford Sierra RS Cosworth, Ford Escort Cosworth and so many others only exist because of these set of rules, which required the cars to be sold to the public as a homologation requirement. At least 2500 of cars directly linked to the racers had to be sold for us, common people. For this reason, many, including me, argue that this is the most relevant racing series ever.
Touring car races are some of the closest and most interesting to watch, with great disputes between drivers. That is all due to the regulations, which require the cars to be based on road-legal cars, and yet they are free enough to go crazy about it.

Re: Automation Touring Car Championship - Season 2

Omg, are you a fan of Franquin, mer_at? That is the best codename for a car ever. If the car drives like its namesake, I would be terrified to go anywhere near it

Hm that track selection hint is a good format! The year is old for my preferences, meaning only that I wouldn't expect to do very well on it, but this is a good time to go look up some 80s cars to replicate!

Re: Automation Touring Car Championship - Season 2

Quick question: any number of cylinders and engine placement is allowed? I also see no limitations on drivetrain!

You are correct, anything goes. This time you can do mid-engined, front-engined, FWD, RWD and AWD. All cylinder configurations are possible.

Don't forget the min weight.

I also hope that's not with a turbo, or you might get destroyed.

I have a 380HP NA V8 and its far from optimized. Especially since it will probably end up with a solid gold head.

Re: Automation Touring Car Championship - Season 2

Brilliant! Then let this be a bit of a teaser for the replica car I hope to do a little justice:

Part HR31 Group A spec, part Japan Super Silhouette Formula, I am building the Skyline to recreation spec, matching the RB20DET build of the R31 GTS-R... except for the fact only mechanical injection seems to be available...

Lemme guess, you made it FF, ultra turbo? No easier way to make a zero tameness car than one that leaves 100ft burnouts off the line

Here is what is probably going to be my entry.

4WD turbocharged, with what I hope is enough power. I just need to continue optimizing it to get closer to the weight and price limits.

Haha, how? Only way to make mine 0 tameness is RWD with the world's shittiest brakes.
