Honda Civic Challenge [Race Results In! Vote are in!}

HONDA POWER!

You are a 16 year old boy/girl (insert legal driving age in your local state/country) who just got their drivers license. Eager to hit the roads in style you purchase a new-to-you 1992 Honda Civic DX hatchback. Equip with a fun loving SOHC D13B2 non v-tech engine and a 5 speed standard transmission.

The car is reasonably low kilometers, or so the salesman insisted, sitting at 270,000 km. The suspension is a little squishy with wear and tear and the interior has seen better days (chain smoking and the more then occasional mid night romp has taken place here, nobody is brave enough to sit in the back passenger seat due to some 'human slime' residing in the fabric.

You drive the car to your high school the first day you have it insured and registered only to be laughed out of the school parking lot, nobody told you '92 civics weren't cool? The cool kids in the yard drive 'dads money' type cars such as Audi's and Chrysler 300's and they run laps around a nearby abandoned airfield. Being the clever kid you are (straight A's in shop class and math) you decide that if you can whip your trusty honda into shape and could lay a smackdown on the cool kids, YOU COULD BE COOL. To be cool is the highest accolade a 16 year old you can imagine and theres no way you could put up with 3 more years of teasing and bullying.

You snuck into the airfield and clocked the lap times of 'cool kids' to your suprise one kid was able to manage a 1:35:00 on the course with their Audi S4 (impressive). You know the kids won't give you a fair chance at this and will likely start the timer earlier to give you a disadvantage. You must manage a lap time of 1:30:00 or better to truly prove your mettle! The car as it is now runs 1:48:00.

Being 16 and without any serious funds this may be a challenge:

Am I reading that right? Or are you saying this is disallowed?

Re: Honda Civic Challenge [Accepting Entries}

HMMMM that one is a good question. Pop-up headlamps would cause cars to fall afoul of most safety regulations both EU and US with regards to pedestrian safety, so to actually mod them onto your car may be difficult to do so in a road legal fashion. That said, if this was the US, the regulations appear only to pertain to headlamp height, so they do have concealers that sort of act like pop up headlamps and you could get away with that, but the EU regulations are more to do with front body deforming standards, which pop up headlamps invariably fail.

Hard to add 4wd without swapping the transmission.

As it's in the "you cannot" section I'd guess you cannot use them, only semi or none.

vmo wrote:Can I add a VTEC system?

That would constitute a head swap, which he said no to.

Re: Honda Civic Challenge [Accepting Entries}

Apart from the safety, interior, body and fixtures, can i just check that everything (including the chassis) is open to any quality value we like between -15 and +3

also, I assume that morphing the body is banned because we cant fabricate parts

*edit*
are we allowed to change the piston/conrod/crank materials?
and what about the air intake?

Exactly, a little reading into the rules go far. Thanks for clearing that up. I reworded some things to reiterate the areo restrictions

Yup, you could 'damage parts' and lessen their quality, or polish parts up to improve their quality a little bit, aside from the categories you mentioned. I updated the rules in internal parts and RON.

RULE UPDATE (Also visible on OP) YOU CAN change air intake types, change engine internals and use up to 98 RON
