"What is it that you think that makes a car go fast?"

Introducing the CRCC: Cheap Racing Car Championship.
With all the strict rules on some of the latest challenges, I wanted to bring this one in with more "open" options.

The participating racecars will have a time attack race on 5 different, non-announced/secret courses. Testing all their abilities, to find out what the ultimate bargain banger is.

The Rules:

There aren’t a lot of nasty rules, but you’ll have to deal with a very tight budget of 12000 total costs (as calculated ingame).

Every challenge does need a few rules though:
-The budget is 12000 total costs.
-All cars have to be 2014 spec.
-The cars will run on super unleaded fuel.
-The engine reliability must be above 60.
-Average reliability must be above 69.
-Safety value must be above 35.
    -Gearbox quality 0.
    -Max tyre width: 305 mm.
    -Brakes: 4 pots all-round (quality 0).
    -Super light interior (quality 0)
    -Entertainment/assist quality 0.

The Scoring:

The scoring system will go as following, although it will be scaled according to how many participants there will be:
    1st – 20 points
    2nd – 16 points
    3rd – 14 points
    4th – 12 points
    5th – 11 points
    6th – 10 points
    7th – 9 points
    8th – 8 points

How to send in:

Send in the model file through pm, with the model named as
CRCC - <your name> - <model name (optional)>

The deadline is 14 September 10 pm CEST

Are entries evaluated outside of track times?

I'll check if they comply to the rules, but for the rest I'll let the time be the judge, since this is the most objective way of doing things really :)

no additional rules applied to the engine? this enable low dollar monsters I could run battleship engine MR car with full carbon body

You could certainly run a battleship engine but I would be impressed if you can make a carbon fibre car within budget.

*edit*
Is it possible to reduce the maximum wheel width a bit? other than the modern mid engined bodies I'm struggling to find anything that can have 305s front and rear

"other than the modern mid engined cars" ;)

I know there are one or two other front engined cars that fit the bill, but the choice is very limited

Which forces you to decide between lightness or the of space for a massive powerplant, or have both and have a tight budget

I put the max tyre size at 305 mm for a reason ;)
You could say I gave the mid-engined bodies a small advantage like that to compensate for their lack of a bigger engine bay.

I know it sucks to have some bodies less competitive, but some would've fallen off anyways if you looked at it from a completely competitive angle, sorry guys.

Having quickly tried a few bodies I can see that the 305mm tyre width limit is actually quite a good one when you take everything else into account. Also, Your reliability restrictions seem to have prevented us from making engines with stupidly big turbos, which is good. While I can just about meet the 60 engine reliability mark, I really struggle to hit 69 for overall reliability with the remaining money if I use the engine from a battleship

Whatever you can get 35 safety with is allowed mate, and if you want some cheap extra average reliability, just cool the sh*t out of your engine ;)

Hi!,

Do we get rewarded for making a car under 12000?

and for that I went for a approx 5 liter V8.. ironically enough my fastest car is a 1970's car body loaded with safety features to comply
