Re: Touch of Class [1978] [ENTRIES OPEN]

Re: Touch of Class [1978] [ENTRIES OPEN]

That would probably explain a few things, most likely 172hp is indeed the minimum to get to 100 under 10s with a 3 speed auto... mine's appreciably quicker than that

Probably won't do as well as the others when it comes to actually being what it was supposed to be...

Also depends on gearing. The benchmark car has 170 HP and a 3 speed auto, but a 9.5 second 0-100k.

7.4 on manual and 8.3 on auto. Yes, what kind of madness gives you a 3 speed auto that gets you to 100 in just over 8 seconds in 1978 xD

Time to present my entry, a classic AMW concept car called the Harmonia! (In the Greek mythology, Harmonia was a daughter of Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty)

Even if she doesn't win this competition, she will hopefully ensure we all have a great time and that everything ends in peace and harmony ;)

Re: Touch of Class [1978] [ENTRIES OPEN]

Thanks! :D I entered this competition mainly because i felt like building a late 70's car anyway (and also for fun). I spent most of the time designing the car, so i'm not expecting to win this one, especially with this many entries and Strop in the field. However, i had a good time building this car and i hope i can at least finish in the top half of the field, unlike some challenges i've entered in.

Seriously, no xD I feel that my reputation extends far beyond its applicable truth. This is a "make a well-rounded car people will buy and use" challenge. I suck at these because all I want to do is take that car and make it a road rocket! It's a strange day when my car doesn't go the fastest around the track/in a straight line/what have you even if that has NOTHING to do with the challenge :P

Introducing the 1978 Rutland Capercaillie, in the top of the range Limited trim exclusive for North American market.

Rutland Motors, a relatively unknown small company from the UK is in uncharted waters here, having only built murderously fast sports cars using whatever tools they found lying around in the shed. Naturally, they had to look up the definitions of 'luxury' and 'safety' among others.

With a 4.1l V8 giving it 'sufficient power', this rather generously equipped conservative yet sleek looking British luxury coupe accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 9.5 seconds while offering a smooth and enjoyable ride for a sophisticated gentleman with a refined taste. According to the brochure, that is.

Will the Capercaillie Limited soar and succeed or fail miserably and fall into obscurity?
