Re: BRC 1955 - The Golden Age [BUILD]

With slicks I imagine?

IIRC Der Bayer is slightly tuning tire wear, so there is more wear at first and then it tapers off slowly to a minimum of .5 grip (or something like that)

I seriously think I will run sports this time, especially since it ends up only 1 second slower compared to slicks.

As much as I want to use the coupe body, there is no contest with the custom roadster, solid 8 seconds faster with just a basic tune over my highly tuned land barge "coupe".

That's exactly it!

And like trackpad I've decided I'll run sports, though, with the slicks, like Bob, one finds oneself tantalisingly close to a sub 2:40...

Re: BRC 1955 - The Golden Age [BUILD]

I think that I made a stupid move by choosing a body that so far nobody used in this contest. It took me an hour to set everything up, I have like 0,199 hp/kg and 2:43.500 on the Automation track. That makes me want to quit already :(

Ouch, wonder if it was a glitch? I find it amazing though how one little click can save or add 5 seconds to a time......

Suspension thing I imagine?

Is it possible that in one case you have oversteer issues, but not in the other? Because that would explain it.

Oversteery cars tend to get mediocre times.

Also, about those sub 2:40 times, they are definitively possible on slicks. And maybe even on sports with some tweaking.

"Some" tweaking.

Some.

Meh, Ardent's going to withdraw from the BRC. I thought sub 2:47 was going to suffice. I don't have the knowledge (much less the time) to find a way to tweak that down anywhere close. Clearly I have learned nothing about performance builds from repeated competition running, so why waste the space? I might qualify, but not do anything more than that. Might as well let my spot go to someone who still gives a crap.

Re: BRC 1955 - The Golden Age [BUILD]

Hello 2:39.98 :)
Also, I don't know if GH will make a showing for 1955 race, but I'm on the hunt for sub 9:20.00 if possible. My car's engine is probably far from the optimal hp/weight/top speed ratio, but 232 mph doesn't seem bad with 7.1s 0-100km.

Looking forward to the first practice session, any word when that will be so I can get my car submitted for it?

I hope that speed is in KPH :D

Because 232 mph is a tad fast

Re: BRC 1955 - The Golden Age [BUILD]

HAHA, your correct, meant to say kph. I use mph here but kph in Automation so I mix the words up often.
Also, small V8s rule yet again. A super rough tune of a crossplane V8 dropped 2 seconds off my I6 engine's time..... Time to tune a new engine :\

Yeah, you know, actually, I'm not putting in the time to find that sub 2:40 on sports tyres LOL. The part that bothers me the most is the (very fair) maximum power:weight ratio, because that's usually where I get my advantage from  As it is, I think given the time I have for this, I'm going to settle for getting points by being competitive to begin with, because no matter how little time I spent on the 1945 build, it's still not a great feeling to always be stuck in the no-points zone!
