Re: Sell on Monday, Win on Sunday - Consumer and BROBOT [OPE

Just a quick note: due to the lack of consistency on my humour and my judgement, I decided to ignore the aesthetics for the score of the cars. It will continue to be a criteria on the more subjective written test, though.

Thank dog for that. My car, which emulated the fugly as hell round cheap looking car of the mid 90s (see Ford Festiva), would not have stood a chance. I do expect a right proper roasting, should it make it to the reviews :P

But I quite like the way your car looks...

It certainly fits the era well and would be considered good looking back then.

I should have seen that coming, in retrospect, given the difference in our tastes with regard to the stuff I normally build :P

I second this motion...

When I saw your car Strop I thought "Better looking than mine, same drivetrain thinking as mine and a master of making a car go fast; I'm doomed!"

But, since my apparent strategy is to just scrape in above the cut-offs, I'm hoping to still be in the running, :D

I have a question regarding the race and sports version of the car. The description says it must have the same aspiration. Does this just mean both need to have either N/A or Turbo OR whether any Turbo need to be exactly identical in terms of set-up/internal components and sizes in the sports AND race version?

My interpretation of this is that it must merely both have a turbo, or both not have a turbo, but the size and settings of the turbo can vary between the variants. That's the only way this competition would make sense.

I agree, just wanted to make sure before I send in my entry.

My entry, with turbos that varied between the variants, was indeed accepted.

Re: Sell on Monday, Win on Sunday - Consumer and BROBOT [OPE

Yes, the turbo size can vary. It would have been a pain in the back both for me, when it came to scrutinieering, and for everyone while the car was being made to have that as a limitation. And, of course, the fia rules for homologation allow bigger turbos to be fitted, so there was no reason for me to ban that.

EDIT: Just over two days remaning! If you want to take part, this is your last chance.

Re: Sell on Monday, Win on Sunday - Consumer and BROBOT [OPE

I'm afraid I won't deliver on that, this weekend will be pretty busy for me, so the first results/charts will come around tuesday and the eco version review will, if my brain works properly, come by wednesday. The sporty versions will be done the week after and the racing will only start after that. However, I think I will be able to send Der Bayer the cars for the pre-season test on the meantime, so we will see how it goes.

I'm not home and won't be for a few hours. So if you want to join in late, you still have a chance.

EDIT: And the entries are closed. First bits of random data should appear soon.

Re: Sell on Monday, Win on Sunday [Entries CLOSED]

There we have it. After 27 valid entries, I have all the data compiled, but I won't reveal the results just now, as they need a bit of work to look decent.

So, here is some trivia.

19 people have decided to use the same engine family across all three variants, only 8 have gone for two different families.
All of those 8 cars (IIRC) have V6 engines for the sport and racing trims.

The slowest car from 0-100 (0-62 mph) does it in 26.4s, whereas the quickest only needs 6.4s.
The highest top speed is 261.8 kph, and the slowest is just 136.3.

The most economical car only needs 4,96 l/100km and the biggest gas-guzzler requires 12.85l to travel 100 km.

And that's it for the mean time, tell me which stats you want to see in this manner, except for average cylinders, cubic capacity and power, because I forgot to write those numbers down. Oops.
