I see a bunch of people are using that roadster that is downloadable but...

Isnt that a 1960s car and not a 1955 car?

@GenJeFT

The Healey is unlockable in 55.

IRL production started in 58, but there were a few other somewhat similar british roadsters made earlier during the 50s.

Fair enough, I think I will take a look at it.

Re: BRC 1955 - The Golden Age [BUILD]

I'm torn about the roadster.

Its faster then the vanilla light car on the straights (by nearly 20 MPH) and it accelerates faster in every way BUT that does not actually translate into better times.

It has the same terrible brakes as the 1945 car.

As a result of the absolutely terrible breaks because of the size of rims required for the 175mm tires it losses LOADS of time on corners despite being 200kg lighter then the vanilla car.

So I am a bit torn, I have two cars that are ultimately nearly identical performance, one does a LOT better in straits, the heavier one oddly does a LOT better on corners (all in the brakes). The small one does get like 38mpg while the heavier one does get only about 26.6mpg.

Maybe I can put both cars into the practice and compare?

An other solution, as I imagine Der Bayer will do multiple training sessions, is to enter the first car you want to test, wait for the results, then enter the second one, and compare the results.

To clarify, we are allowed to use safety with negative quality to artificially lower the car's weight? Think I may need to find 2 pounds to lose.....

Re: BRC 1955 - The Golden Age [BUILD]

I'm not sure whether this will go any better than 1945, where I just went for lightness and didn't really fix anything else. This time, with an improved suspension tune, we'll see if this power barge can match the little guys in the corners!

Large coupe body represent! *fistbump with Kristina* (now with over 200hp, muahahahaha)

I asked this same question in the previous BRC. It was frowned upon then, and I was told that the calculations may be ironed out, but as yet they have not changed.

AFAIK the majority of us wouldn't be doing it (and I'm not, myself), but if it's just 2 pounds, I don't personally see a problem with it, as it still costs extra anyway. I would obviously defer to Der Bayer for a decision on this though!

Re: BRC 1955 - The Golden Age [BUILD]

You may use safety quality as you like because you don't gain anything compared to someone who is sitting at the power to weight limit.

(aaaaaaaaaaaaand five minutes with the not-Healey and the coupe gets annihilated on the track. I wonder which I should use in the end...)

Re: BRC 1955 - The Golden Age [BUILD]

So close to sub 2:40 on Automation Test Track... come on suspension tune, work with me!
As much as I want to use the coupe body, there is no contest with the custom roadster, solid 8 seconds faster with just a basic tune over my highly tuned land barge "coupe".
