Re: Announcement: CTC - Car Tycoon Challenge

Here are the results with cars made in the last ~16 hours, which have been made with the new calculations regarding tax, R&D, tooling and engineering:

Things are looking good now and except from minor tweaks in the target group definitions we should be ready to go! :) We start as soon as the automatic update is out. I'll make a new thread with the announcement then.

Re: Announcement: CTC - Car Tycoon Challenge

Damn, I forgot to adjust the cars I sent you for the updates so they haven't been included... not that it would have affected sales much. Also, it seems that everyone has made their cars a bit too cheap

Re: Announcement: CTC - Car Tycoon Challenge

Could be that we trying aim for 1988 prices without understanding the relationship between automation dollars and the value of our local currency at that time

Re: Announcement: CTC - Car Tycoon Challenge

Depends on whether you want to hurt your competition (taking customers away with cheap prices) or making absolute profit. :)

I'll do another run in the evening, if anyone wants to send in cars for testing, go ahead!

Re: Announcement: CTC - Car Tycoon Challenge

Again I tweaked the buyer groups a bit and I think I am now happy with how it works. The latest test have been uploaded here again: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B4x5S3wQzQFlM01iOUZrR1lkUU0&usp=sharing

Automation Pro Tip: Don't try to sell a car for $6,000,000,000.

Beta testing of this challenge is now closed, please don't send me anymore cars.

Re: Announcement: CTC - Car Tycoon Challenge

I was just trying to make sure that your system wouldn't allow Sheikh B.P. Esso McShell to buy a car that was so expensive that just one sale would get you a profit with a good chance of winning. I'm glad to say that your system has held up wonderfully :)

*edit*
I'm surprised that my luxury car did so well, I honestly thought it was going to be keeping my single sale test car company near the bottom of the leaderboard

Re: Announcement: CTC - Car Tycoon Challenge

Yeah, all of the shown results have been of people who helped prototyping and balancing the challenge. Now let's wait until the official update is released. Less bugs means more fun for everyone. :)

Re: Announcement: CTC - Car Tycoon Challenge

Inserting the values by hand is such a chore. More so cause I can't alt tab the game without crashing.

Play in windowed mode to solve that problem :)
If you still cant get it to work then you could always take a few screenshots of the relevant information and shove them on a temporry powerpoint presentation or something for easy navigation
