Re: BRC 1955 - The Golden Age [Qualifying 1]

Are the crashes random or has it to do something with a carstat? I had a lot of them in the first race and lost a lot of speed because of the damage caused by the crashes.
I started race 2 from Pole but after just 1 lap my race was over: engine failure. Based on the carstats the reliability was ok, so this wasn't the result I expected.

It was fun to watch the race, thank you all :)

Ugh! I don't know how I had an engine failure. I definitely need to talk to my parts supplier and find out what the hell is going on over there! Pushrods should never fail. I'll be back, better than ever! (who am I kidding?)

I think your car will do better, you really do get the worst end of the stick sometimes.

@Richard117 I could be wrong but I am fairly sure you just had rotten luck in race 2

Crashes are entirely random, no car stats involved. They can happen if you are within 5m of another car.

This race was the first that I sat through the whole thing rather than just skip to the part where my car lost...

Live commentary FTW!!!! 8-) 8-) 8-)

What a fantastic race! Really well done to CW Rules, swapping positions in the final corner really makes for an exciting race.

Something I noticed was that my car didn't really slow down in the latter stage of the race, or at least not to the same extent as anyone else's. Obviously I'm quite pleased with that, but I'd be lying if it was an intended design feature. Anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening? Good driver? Luck?

Re: BRC 1955 - The Golden Age [Qualifying 1]

Another strange thing, in the qualifying race my first full lap was the fastest, but in the race(first one) i got faster as the race went on. :?
Second race..... ouch, good example of how much the damage to the car makes it slower.

Probably driving is affected by drivers within a certain proximity, plus, if you're not leading, drafting effect. If working your way through the traffic, there's a lot of overtaking to be done if you qualified faster.

I got really held up in race two, which makes me concerned I don't have enough overtaking power!

Re: BRC 1955 - The Golden Age [Qualifying 1]

Engine failure at the start line. Rough days haha
May I suggest an improvement for 1965? Perhaps take into account engine reliability at each rpm if you can, because under 7500rpm my car is just fine (you may recall the saving issues which maxed out my redline to 12000, which is why the reliability was listed as 0)
As for the story lets go with your it's-too-hot theory. Let's say the fuel was just evaporating in the lines..... it happens haha

Re: BRC 1955 - The Golden Age [Qualifying 1]

Having engine failure related to current RPMs would be interesting - I don't think that data is included in the .lua files, though, which might make doing so tricky.

Edit: While we're making suggestions, I think it would make sense to have crashes related to the Difficulty of the two cars in proximity - probably via a reduction in crash probability for very controllable cars.

how will tuning work for the next race if a participants car does not load in the current version?

Re: BRC 1955 - The Golden Age [Qualifying 1]

I don't think there is tuning in this series - the cars submitted at the beginning are driven with the same setup for the whole season.

Edit: AshleyBlack is an exception - because his first car was bugged, Der Bayer accepted a fixed version, even though the first race had already been run on Der Bayer's computer.

Der Bayer has all the races recorded already, so it won't be an issue. Also, it doesn't use the game itself, only the data extracted from the car files.

I was dumb, I thought there was tuning between races, like a nucklehead.

It probably doesn't for general reliability, although I know nothing of the workings of the game, so who knows? But the game does show the stress put on various pieces of the motor at various RPMs when you do the tests on it. There's also that Oil Pressure gauge, perhaps there's some kind of computer stuff going on behind that you could use
