Oh, about the pro street version, you should see the torque curve of that one........ but yeah seriously Manche, what kinda mileage should we be aiming for?

I'm slightly concerned that I'm using a big block if fuel mileage is an issue. The original Boss 432 pushed a huge muscle car around getting ~10 US MPG, but I don't know what it will do when I tune it to the moon. I also want to be conservative with my fuel mixture and cam profile if I need to keep it at a certain MPG.

Re: PTT Pro Touring Tour

as a rough estimate, the car (preferably) should be able to travel 800km with a full tank (You wouldn't want to be stranded in the Atacama desert would you?), the tank size will be given in accordance to the wheelbase size, the smallest would be 50 Liters (for dinky 2.0m wheelbase cars) and the and 100 Liters for 3.0M wheelbase landbarges.

So if my quick calculations are correct (I'm in law school; we don't do math.), that equals somewhere between ~19-38 US MPG depending on the fuel tank size.

Re: PTT Pro Touring Tour

Ugh. Now I'm regretting going for the whole "small car, big engine" strategy. I mean, I can knock together an alternate vehicle, but... then again, is that exactly fair to change my plan this late in the game just because I've found out there's no way I'm going to make the trip without a trunk full of gas cans?

I'm on board with you. I'd be amazed if my car can get 19 MPG and that would require the huge fuel tank and a really lean fuel mixture if I wanted to make any use of my displacement.

Re: PTT Pro Touring Tour

I can get 19 MPG, but my wheelbase is something like 2.3 meters. Which means I need a lot more than 19 MPG. Now I've got an alternate vehicle I was working on as an experiment, and the upgraded engine can get almost 19 MPG in a massive car. Otherwise, I have to run the Captain like it is, which means I'm going to be continually stranded due to running out of gas. I pulled a typical American strategy of a little car with a nice healthy 5 liter V8 in it. If I'd have known I'd need more than 30 MPG, I'd have built a micro car with no horsepower and pulled the strategy of passing everyone who's waiting for gas.

Re: PTT Pro Touring Tour

the progression between small car and fuel car size would be lineal between the 2 points so a 2.5 m wheelbase car would get a 75 L tank

fuel tank size will be according to this function

FTS(in liters)= 50(wheelbase in meters)-50

This fuel economy is once again RECCOMENDED! you may have gas guzzler, but you would have to roll a 10 sided virtual dice and the worse your autonomy is the hugher chances of not finding a fuel station and thus having to call the rescue van, that van will be carrying tools and fuel as well being capable of towing even the most humongous of landbarges.

another choice would be HYPERMILING your way to the next stage but there may be a penalty if the other will have to wait for you more more than it supposed to.
naturally the first to arrive to the next stage will get points but will be exposing itself to an accident or emptying the tank prematurely and thus getting stuck on the side of the road .

800km with a full tank

What??? Most cars in this day and age don't have that range on mixed consumption! Me thinks I'm going to have to gamble quite a bit...

Wait...800km on a single tank? That's.....500 miles! That's going to need a very large tank for anything that isn't a Toyota Corolla! Maybe I'm just too American for this competition....

do you guys want me to reduce the distance from 800km to something smaller?

Re: PTT Pro Touring Tour

I can do the 800 kilometers if I change my car design to make use of a larger fuel tank. Can't say it'll be super fast, but I'd hold up better against penalties. It's only a touch slower than the Storm Captain around the Test Track, so it should be just about as competitive. Otherwise, if I'm not allowed to change my car design, I'll run with the Captain and eat the gas mileage penalties.

Re: PTT Pro Touring Tour

Manche: it depends on just how the penalties balance out, I suppose! I'm willing to go with 800 but I'll be fairly sure to have to roll the dice on a regular basis... I would suggest 500-600 as a more realistic estimate.

Good point. i think its fair to bring the "safe" autonomy distance down 600, that would enable some more powerful cars.

However I was able to make a large coupe with 451 HP (DI MOHV 6.2L NA v8) make 8.9 km/l and have a top speed of 294.7 Km/h and reaches the 100 Km/h in 4.9 seconds thanks to +10 engine +15 aero and some other nifty tricks which would be allowed in the modified cars
