It's a safety feature Are you really sure you want that much power? Yes? Well ok, I'll try. ROFLOL The little 1bbl doesnt help either but it is cheap and I was trying to stay within the limits I gave myself on how far from the original Ford 300 I could go.

I thought that carb looked small, no way my engine was going to be able to breath through a single barrel carb. With the four barrel however I like that fact that at any rpm my motor puts out at least 300 ft/lb torque and still returns 14 mpg.

Mine is just one shade of green off of "normal for the color of the carb at full power so there is a TINY bit of room for improvement but they didnt really come with a 2bbl in bone stock form so that is why I stuck with the 1bbl.

The fuel efficiency of carbs in this game is something that has made me scratch my head for a while. After all, my frame of reference for economy cars and carbs comes from 80's Japanese cars. And their most efficient variants ALWAYS came with 1bbl carbs. If one ever came with a 2-pot, it was either aftermarket or the "performance" version.

Not counting a Nissan with DCOEs, of course.

The 557 idea came from the "557 demon stroker kit" for a ford FE 460, I had to adjust the bore and stroke slightly to maximize economy, the cam is also set to only 19 or 20 with a restrictive exhaust. I think hot rodders would have loved this engine, just with intake and exhaust work you can get 300+ HP, riching the mix (from it's stock 15.0:1) can net you another 20 or so.

I've been thinking the same thing, all the 80's american cars were 1 or 2 barrel carbs for emission reasons, 4 barrels were solely the high powered option.

Yep, my sisters 65 Mustang has a 200 with a 1bbl and it gets GREAT mileage, she is pushing high 20s to low 30s in summer. If this were an Automation car it would only get 15 if that. They need to rework the efficiency of the 1bbl at least.
