Re: Automation Touring Car Championship - Season 2[ENTRIES O

So far it looks like I've gone in a completely bonkers direction than everybody else (except nialloftara) in terms of car design.

Not sure if this is good or bad, but here it is, the MMW Natick GTC 3.5-R

Re: Automation Touring Car Championship - Season 2[ENTRIES O

I'm going to give this a shot, and to be honest, since it's the first competition I'm actually entering, I don't know if I'll be doing well. But I suppose I'll just learn from this and go from there.

That being said, here's my entry.

The Weiler Varro GT Group A special.

I decided to go the N/A route, but with an AWD beast based around something I've been working on. It's not the most powerful but I'm hoping it's 'well rounded' enough to at least have a decent standing, we'll see.

Yes it's rather plan looking, in spite of having this game for close to a year, my focus has been elsewhere (hint-engines and chassis setup...or there lack of with the latter), and this car is more function than form. That said...lets see how 3 and a half liters of 'murican' V8 muscle stacks up with everybody else.

Re: Automation Touring Car Championship - Season 2[ENTRIES O

Well, I guess my car would be better off with using a NA engine as well, putting in the one I have on the shelf results in a pretty neat sportiness/tameness balance. As it is I can only hope the F1 tracks don't include Monaco or the like and that I'm not too far behind the power of the other turbo engines and nicely above the NA ones. Can't compete with any of them on driveability for sure. Since the overall quality of the earlier entries improved over last season I would be happy if my car manages to match the results of the first car.

For now I hope the car qualifies, even after checking again I can't help but feeling I missed something.

Don't worry, I haven't tested the last four cars, because I didn't have time to do it.

I'll test them at some point today, can't really say when.

Ok, after my total failure in the last season, I'm not going to make a piss poor car this time.

Here is my entry, the Evgenis Fos ATCC! Not particularly interesting to look at, but 480 bhp of N/A power sure should make up for it!

480hp of NA power  that's awesome! I didn't even look at NA due to the car I based my entry on, but I simply have to give it a burl to see how you did it!

Re: Automation Touring Car Championship - Season 2[ENTRIES O

I'm in that range as well, POWER!!!. Indeed I actually looked at turbos first, but with the mr setup there was just too much tameness penalty.

Re: Automation Touring Car Championship - Season 2[ENTRIES O

After a prolonged period of completely ignoring the stat, I'm starting to get a feel for how much "tameness" (and what kind) certain tracks need. Just did a 10 minute test and tune over lunch, replacing the RB20DET witha 3500cc V8 putting out 492hp. Tameness was boosted for sure... but the times ended up significantly slower except on the tightest and bumpiest of tracks (like Brands Hatch, and Haruna, in which the NA car completely slaughtered the turbo!)

Then again, my car is an AWD build with an already decent tameness ratio, so having a tameness value of 60 is likely superfluous, especially when it exceeds sportiness. I did, on the other hand, notice that MR cars don't like turbo very much, but haven't done any testing to see just how much boost one can get away with.

On a refreshing note: it seems my car will definitely not be the one with the highest power, nor power to weight ratio, making this even more interesting from my POV to see where my replica build stacks up!

I might have brought a gun to a knife fight.... BUT on the plus side it is only 8kg above the minimum.

Re: Automation Touring Car Championship - Season 2[ENTRIES O

So here is my entry, the NMC Lynx ST4 Group A.

Inline 6, 4WD and .2kg from the minimum. Hoping it will do better than middle of the pack.

Image

I also experimented and created this monstrosity.

Image

It has 701HP, with more lag than an Australian on dial-up. Even then it's pretty bad as it is slower on every track I tested it on, especially bumpier tracks. AFAIK it's within regs. I might post the file once the championship starts (or maybe before)

Re: Automation Touring Car Championship - Season 2[ENTRIES O

What in god's name did you do to the car to develop 701hp? super expensive high boost turbo?

EDIT: judging by my experience back in my day of dial-up, I'm guessing yes!
