Dragawn wrote:I'll be keeping my budget sportscar at a slightly higher pricetag, mainly due to the ridiculously high service penality Mid-engined cars get anyways (nearly double? Sorry devs, but I think you went overboard with it), giving the car excessively high running costs. Luckily the car seems to be atleast the ultimate trackday weapons ;)

Clearly you haven't owned a mid engined car before... For an example, most of the Ferrari's of the 80's and 90's had to have their engine removed to do the timing belt. Yup, engine out. That will easily double the cost of the timing belt service!

Maintenance parts are harder to access and heat soak issues shorten the life of many components (plus mid engined cars like to catch on fire...). Couple this with more convoluted cooling and exhaust systems then you have a car that has a higher propensity to have gremlins, leak fluids and randomly break down (plus when it does break down, no-one wants to fix it!). :geek:

So why even bother with mid-engined cars then? Because they're extremely fun to drive once you've mastered the art and the challenge the MR car presents (plus great design) fires the imagination like nothing else can! 8-)

Because no-one with an ounce of street cred wants an AWD 1.1L car, that's why! Don't build for the masses, build for those who value camshafts over connectivity, lap-times over lap-dogs, venturi's over vanity mirrors and balance over Boyzone!

Cars with passion will be remembered, loved, cared for and treasured. Make automotive love, not bland-box's!!! :D

I would like to point out that on the last CTC the Zap was outsold and beaten *cough*.

It might look hard, but it is possible to better him. And making the cars ultra-cheap means that the sales have to be extremely good, otherwise the cars will have a loss. It is what happened to me when I tried to outsmart Znopresk.

The other aspect is that if no-one tried to compete with ZM then they will have the market to themselves so their sales(and profits) will be higher

Great showroom Norman! I take it you painted the Ž in the graphics editor, or are custom logos possible now?

Leonardo:
Last time I outsold everyone because I made a great car and priced it as a boring family sedan. I tried to make an exact replica just for fun, but somehow it ended up about twice as expensive in 2014 even with the same old body, engine and features (of course they were 10s instead of 70s)... and a few thousand extra when modernised. But still an excellent car. This time I made a car that barely moves because it has a motorcycle engine for about 1,5t of weight... but hey, no wheelspin! And ship-like smooth ride*. I'm curious who will buy that!

*including dreadful acceleration and getting sea sick from motion

And I was lucky gain just 5$ on each Zap at the end :P
I'm trying to tweaking and improving the Zap... but in the recent years the EFi and other options are making the car quite costly (if i want to be proud of it). Good competition is always welcome.

it is very difficult to don't fall a bit in different market sections, but... I want some competition :P. I want to improve the Zap. :D

Re: CTC - Car Tycoon Challenge #5 - 2014 [BUILD]

My first entry is a shameless plug to the challenge that I am doing, the Ultimate Van Race. So it has got to be a van!

Image

It's a Mitsushita Emperor Turbo, 2.4 litre Twin Cam powered pure Japanese van, slightly Turbocharged and is very economical!. 0-62mph in 9.4 seconds. Very JDM, yo with it's exposed intercooler, flared wheel arches and some mad offset wheels.

Image

My second entry is less interesting, it's a Carlotta WOT212 featuring not very interesting 5.5 litre V8. The only 2 real good point are that it got Pyrlix's fantastic not-W212 grille and is a SWAGON.

Oh I submitted long ago. So that part doesn't matter. Still, in the build phase, so not something for the public.
