Re: CRCC: Cheap Racing Car Championship

Well I guess in hindsight I should have expected a number of cars like this. Fine by me, I'll call it a win if my car is fastest small mid engine in race.

Re: CRCC: Cheap Racing Car Championship

I had a 1187bhp car with a decent power band ready to go, but it handled about as well as a dog on an ice rink compared to my other car so I didn't submit it. From the first few entries I thought my 700bhp entry was excessive, but it seems to be OK now

*edit*
Just checked the power. It was higher than I thought

Re: CRCC: Cheap Racing Car Championship [First track complet

Looks like its quite tight at the top :). I'm just hoping there aren't too many tracks with long straights because I added a LOT of downforce. As a consequence Im about 10s down on the two times i've seen for the nurburgring so far because my straight line speed is appalling (~165mph at best)

For anyone that doesnt want to look it up, Mountain ridge is stage 2/6 of the first proper BRC (not the three stage beta shakedown BRC)

The new Banhammer H5.0 - hammering down some crazy 11s on the tarmac with its rear wheel drive and big 5L V8 that has sufficient Power for the driver to put a Grin in his Face every single time.

4th place and not too far behind top 3 in time, much better than I expected considering what engines it's going against. Since everyone is posting their car stats I might as well dump some images too.

Not very fancy looking.

Here's mine. I went for lots of downforce rather than straight line speed. lets see if it pays off:

Not optimzied for straight line maximum speed, yet it takes the car 4.5s to reach 62mph?
So not really optimized for quick acceleration.
Only good thing i see, is the cornering for very large corners?
It weighs 100kg more, and has 50hp less.
Still, you are only 0.6s behind me. :D

considering the fact that this was a really slow course i'm sort of okay with the results. I hope that there will be a track in witch my elephant can go at least into 5th.

Some straight lines would do my heavy 80s throwback some good... nowhere near the front of the pack, and I'm not surprised... but I still think she's pretty.

The low 0-60 time was because of the gearbox. I sacrificed my speed off the line partly to save money and use a 5 speed gearbox, partly to improve acceleration at the higher end, but mostly to improve tameness by reducing wheelspin. The main downside to my strategy is that my 0-30mph or so time is abysmal considering the stats of the car, which manifests itself in the bad 0-60 time. The 50-75mph time is where the car (should) shine. It was down to about 1.4s, but its at 1.6s because it has to change gear at ~55mph. I figured that getting off the line is something that only happens once on a track so it could be sacrificed for performance in other areas

Considering that what was timed was flying lap.

TBH though I think you may have overdid down force a bit, your low top speed will probably bite you in the back later on. I know it's funny coming from a guy that finished behind you  .
