Re: AMWEC '15 [2nd Race results]

Jeez. The Spina dropped from 6th to 30th and the LMPC from 32 to 25. Good on the LMPC, but poor Spina; this was not the Spina's race. I've not looked over the list very intensively, but that has to be the biggest drop of the week.

Can't wait for next week! :D

Well... everything is a learning experience, I hoped to pick up some know-how out of this, and I am. At least I got the best laptime of the race... to be fair the car is performing a lot better than my initial brightest expectations, so I got nothing to be upset about :) My goal was "not in the last quarter of the pack", and to combat Strop's Zeus in qualifying is a high achievement for me.

This week, the AP2 Class Spotter guide was reveled and now we can see the cars compiting in this class. 8 MR cars and only 1 FR, and finally we see some turbos. The AP2 class is for cars specially made for racing, but under a small budget. Also, this is the most restrictive class to compite, so kudos to all the racers in this category.

The race this week was at Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace (also known as autodromo Interlagos), a pretty fast and short circuit, with some straigths and long open turns, definitely not a technical circuit.
You can see the overall results here --> viewtopic.php?f=39&t=8291&start=290#p90254

In first place is the Zeus GT, and in second the Sepang, but this time the gap between the two was only 5 laps, and the exilus, only one minute behind. This was a good round for the AGTE Class, 6 of them in the top 10. The NV810 was even faster than last time, ending in 4th place overall, and 2nd in its class. The surprices for this race were the Vulcan GT, that finished in 11th (3rd last time) and the Spina, from 11th to 30th. Here the results by class:

Awesome turn around for the Boss AP2 and AGTE cars this week. This track definitely favors their high horsepower and higher top speeds. Il Capo finished better in AP1 as well!

Yeah, confirmed my suspicions - Sepang spent 2 extra pitstops fixing up damage, that's where the majority of Zeus' lead comes from. :)

Re: AMWEC '15 [2nd Race results]

So the math there is 2x repair time of 240s, plus an extra 50s of variations from having minor race incidents, and possibly some extra variances due to a drivability of 40 vs 50. The Zeus had no race incidents whatsoever once again, so that does pretty much cover it.

Re: AMWEC '15 [2nd Race results]

@Squidhead: A learning experience indeed. Also forgot to say thank you for the offer you extended earlier, though seeing as how I've got a handful of custom sponsors (I'm not good at fancier tricks, but I think I do pretty good on the more simple logo stuff so I created a few) its more effort than is necessary.

Having looked at the pit stop data, freaking LMPC only stopped twice and that was to change its tires. No accidents, no refueling, nothing eventful just tires. Meanwhile Spina has 18 accidents and needs repair quite a bit, so he pits 9 times. Looking at the other data though it seems that the Spina is slow here (or perhaps in general) and others stopped as if not more often so perhaps the first race may have been a fluke? Need more data  (Honestly never thought I'd be this into this)

On that note, I really appreciate what you've done for us here Sillyworld and the amount of work you're putting in. Seriously great job.

Re: AMWEC '15 [2nd Race results]

Hi guys, I have a couple of announcements to make, one good news, one bad news, and one compensatory news

  • Good news: After a week, I'm almost done with the calculations for all the races (315 spreadsheets so far :| ) the ony race left to calculate is the 12 hrs of Nurburgring. So I can concentrate doing other stuff, like more in depth reviews for the races or the cars, o other type of content. AAAND I will finally update my automation version :geek:
  • Bad news: There is an error with the simulation of the green hell track, because the flying lap is always slower than the single lap! Using one of my cars, I managed a time of 7:32.85 in a single lap, and 7:52.04 using the flying lap, and I have tried to fix it (re-do the lua, move the sectors) but nothing works :( So, instead of using the green hell track for that event, I'll use this one viewtopic.php?f=36&t=6165 the nurburg GP-Strecke circuit.
  • Compensatory news: I will still publish the green hell single lap times, just for the lulz 8-)

Re: AMWEC '15 [2nd Race results]

Don't worry about it! I saw that issue early on (you may recall my post from early in the thread) and wondered how you were going to fix it.

If it is not too late, I do have a version of the Green Hell flying lap that does work (somewhat), if you are interested. If not, GP-Strecke is a fine replacement and probably MUCH easier to work with because it doesn't involve calculating 41km for 35 cars

You've put in a huge effort so far so to me this is not a bad thing. Also I feel it reflects real-world conditions in which this year racing on the real Green Hell got banned after that tragic freak GT3 accident.

Re: AMWEC '15 [2nd Race results]

Looks like I did a lot better in the second race, was not expecting anything near as good as that. I guess having a high-powered engine can make a big difference. Also Strop, what was the secret to your car's performance? It's faster than pretty much everything else in the competition, prototypes included, (ike the McLaren F1 in its first season at Le Mans).

Sillyworld 100 times thanks for the data! As expected driveability is my biggest enemy (10 to 12 accidents per race). Still, I am happy to be in the faster hlaf :)

I though it was an easy fix, but anyways, I just finished the remaining calculations using the GP-strecke. We'll just say that the event was cancelled due the GTR accident xD.

IT'S A DAMN BEAST  Autralian engineering at its best

I was going to post the Spa data but I can't find it :(
