Yup. You're going to have to use 10" diameter rims to fit 155mm wide tires. The older the car is, the taller the tire aspect ratio has to be. They didn't have rubber band tires back in the 40's.

Granted with 10" diameter rims you have absolutely terrible brakes.

Re: BRC - Out of the Steam - 1945 [BUILD]

The brake diameters will make for interesting exploration of "sportiness" settings of the pad. More sportiness when the pad is undersized = better stopping distance, but also much more brake fade due to really low ventilation.

Der Bayer wrote:What do you mean with exploit? If there's a problem with the rules or the game, just just tell me. It's still early enough to fix things.

Good thing you mentioned this. What leo says is correct, and as I've mentioned in live chat: the safety option weights are calculated such that -15 quality is lighter than no safety at any quality (because no safety now doesn't have any weight, which I thought was correct). I assumed that the ideal behaviour would be that any safety above no safety would increase the weight of the car, even if it was -15 quality.

I didn't mention specifically what it was as I didn't want to rock the boat, but then again that probably doesn't make as much sense as actually patching the game to fix the behaviour if it's considered aberrant. As for (repeated) allegations about my unsportsmanlike conduct, I hope my policy of open disclosure will allay your concerns. I'm not in this challenge to win it, I'm in it to help improve the game, so I consider running a build on the limits of the game where possible to be more helpful.

I hope that you, specifically Absurdist, will appreciate this for future reference.

I dont mind if you use an exploit in the game, we are here in early access to find these flaws and let people know about them so they get fixed. As Stop wrote in that epic post about launching your own race, if it isnt in the rules then you must assume it is allowed, if Der Bayer doesnt list a minimum safety number then this "exploit" is free to use for all.

Re: BRC - Out of the Steam - 1945 [BUILD]

To clarify: But as Der Bayer has said it's not too late to refine the rules, I'm more than happy to get this ironed out before submitting! Because if it's no longer possible to use the game in that manner (i.e. exploit the safety weight), then we'll actually have a more properly level playing field. Unless you're shooting for a wider range of entries, in which case... I'll do whatever is more helpful.

You're first comment suggested that you weren't going to show what you found and that you intended to use it. So I think, it is fair for me to say that I don't like that.

You are fantastic with this game and I admire that I just wish you didn't use these things in the competitions.
I'd happily acknowledge that you've done far more for the game and community than I have.

Re: BRC - Out of the Steam - 1945 [BUILD]

Okay yeah I understand. That was a brain fart, my bad! It was, as I implied, me not wanting to specify what I thought were potential imbalances so soon after the steam release, but really, since there are other bugs that are being patched my concern was moot :P

Also, on reflection, that business with the BRC might warrant some explaining too, since nobody was privy to the specific roles within the team as they can't read our PMs, but that's probably all water under the bridge by now!

The larger car has larger wheel wells - I got 14" rims with 155mm wide tires that way. I'm looking to see if I can make a faster car on the other body before I choose, though.

What better way to end a model run then with a Special Race-tuned version of it.

The Valkyrie Aspen BCR Special is putting it's 1.5 Litre engine to it's limits. And has been specially built for the '45 Bavarian Racing Challenge.

The GSI Victory Mk I and it's free-revving 1.0 liter V8 have been submitted.

One-liter V8! That's incredibly tiny!

Here the Znopresk entry... it's 1945 so... no chrome stripes on the side... very humble looking and essential as a lot of post war cars were.
