Race Three: Brands Hatch

Third race, on the Brands Hatch indy circuit, in Kent, UK. The epicentre of british touring cars, complete with blind corners, big elevation changes, all rolled into the short, Indy version of the track.

This track really favours cars with good balance, thus a good tameness to sportiness ratio is vital, but so is power.
So some of you can understand why your cars are so much slower around this track than in the other ones, here are the tameness, sportiness and their ratio comparisons.

Yes, so did I, but the car still worked better than anticipated on that track. Looks like the requirements between Suzuka and Brands Hatch are surprisingly similar.

Re: Automation Touring Car Championship 2 [RACE THREE RESULT

2nd, that's really good.

As long as I don't get wrecked too much on BRC stage 2 I think I will end in a very good position at the end of the championship.

Was the track the exact same version that's available on the forums or did you raise the sportiness a little like you did in the first ATCC?

Also, strop, I am surprised that your car has almost the same Tameness/sportiness ratio as mine, even though it has less HP.

My car has not budged from its current position. 3rd to last.

Better then last time, dead last for everything.

No track has been altered this time, so yes, it is exactly the same.

About the tameness part, Strop isn't the guy to go for a tame car. This is a new concept to him :P

This is so true LOL.

I really have no concept of balance. Up until recently I would start with maximum power, then tweak the power curve slightly, then make the car as light as possible and tune from there. I'm in the thick of learning something new right now.

If anything so far this confirms at least at this stage that I should have gone for the larger air intercooler!

On the other hand, performance has been consistently just off the maximum pace (like the real HR31 :P ), so I'll just wait to see how it stacks up across all the tracks.

EDIT: if I don't win that ludwigschafenring, then the car is definitely underpowered! This at least is helping me big time in terms of refining the testing process.

EDIT 2: Yep, agree with QuantoSolo that air-air would have been advantageous as it's the early power in my engine that's still lacking a bit. Having an air-air intercooler gives not only significant power gains, but significant room to move with widening the power band, which, in my case, would have given me a significantly better finish in all stages! I'll remember to pay more attention to that next time.

Zest iX means Injection + X transmission (AWD)

3rd place \o/... I'll not be there again for the rest of the championship.
Looking for the BRC2 however... I'm curious.

Re: Automation Touring Car Championship 2 [RACE THREE RESULT

@GenJeFT: Now that would be madness! We'd save money for sure, but... I wouldn't know what to put the money into!

(Though a 5 minute performance test reveals that an NA 3500cc i6 with quad DCOE would in fact yield... almost the same times... around the track... as my turbo... and save about 700 bucks...)
