Re: The Farm Truck Challenge (Stage 2 - Accepting Entries)

a clarification question.

what do you specifically mean as 'same fuel system' ?
if i change the intake filter does that count?
what about the config? from single to dual or throttle per cyl?

(so glad i went direct injection)
and is a different block head design is allowed at all?
it counts as the same engine family right? but with a different head.

do i still get the same engine family bonus?

You're allowed to completely swap the engine if you want, only the Model stays the same.

Re: The Farm Truck Challenge (Stage 2 - Accepting Entries)

I don't think it's worth keeping the cam profiles and turbo the same in my entry at all, it simply isn't powerful enough. Especially since I'm aiming to increase it overall by at least 60%... On the same family. Like niall said, time to dial up the boost!

Having NA, same cam profile is really not an option. I am thinking of staying with NA because I am not very good with tuning turbos yet. So hopefully around 600HP will still make my truck competitive...

Fuel System is a specific choice you make in the fuel tab. It's where you choose Carbs, MFI, EFI, or DI. In order to get the bonus this selection needs to match your Stage 1. Everything after that will not affect getting the bonus.

Pretty sure that doesn't work in the game. You can only use a different variant to qualify for bonuses. If you have a different valve train, you are ineligible for bonuses. I'm not checking another engine family to see if it matches your stage 1 family. It has to be from the same family as defined by the Automation parameters.

You got it. Full engine swaps are allowed so long as it meets all of the rules. Full engine swaps are ineligible for bonus points.

The idea was to give incentives to those who think they can crank up the sportiness of their truck while still using pretty much the same motor. Cams, Fuel System, and Aspiration type are all places where people will be looking to tweak to increase power, so I figured these three choices would be the best places I could quickly look over.

I'm working on mine slowly, but I think I'm getting somewhere. Might have to take some drastic measures to deal with the weight.

Getting a few decent results now, but the formula for the last 10% on the automation track is gonna be make it or brake it. Will it be released before the deadline?

Yes. It will. I just need to figure out how it will work.

Cool, no rush.
Got two versions ready with about 6% difference in scores, but the best one so far is not what i would call suited for the track ;)

Re: The Farm Truck Challenge (Stage 2 - Accepting Entries)

I'm just hoping that others are having as much difficulty as I am with making their truck fast. Beginning to regret my old AHS chassis + Corrosion Resistant panels choice. Still, I can at least throw some impressive numbers around, maybe do okay on the Test Track, but I'd designed it in mind, originally, around the old budget when it came to this part. To have to double our profit while cutting down our costs, that was an evil trick, though I can see it causing more trouble to those who were already pushing it more than I was.

But, I'm working with it. I can guarantee I won't see the top 10 in this side, but I'm going to do my bloody best to unleash the beast.

Time for a New Titanus Model, as my other is far too expensive to use.

Edit: Nevermind. TIME TO CUT SOME MOTHER FLUFFING COSTS, BIRCHES!

Re: The Farm Truck Challenge (Stage 2 - Accepting Entries)

Ha am I glad my original model retailed for not very much. I can really cut loose on the parts that matter and ditch some of the trimmings. Offroad tray? Forget that! Hard tyres? Upgrade! My main question is should I use standard or sports seats... Because those sports seats are mighty expensive and I might be able to put that money elsewhere...

yes it does. just have to do a little trick. stay in the 'engine size config' tab, go forth a year, and go back again. now the valvetrain setup is unlocked.

so now, except if i actually found something that it's not supposed to be used, that 2 things that you said are contradicting each other...

also. i made a spreadsheet for counting the scores for this stage 2 challenge. how do i share it via google drive again? (assuming you dont mind, do you kli?)
i just mimic the stage 1 spreadsheets and change the numbers for the calculation

Re: The Farm Truck Challenge (Stage 2 - Accepting Entries)

There's no way I can tune my original engine for this. I went for cheap (cost around 21k) and that 4L I6 is just not enough. Giant V8, on the other hand...
