Re: V6 Supercar's Season 1 Reborn

Small rule change "Reliablity: At least 50. (I will accept 49.9 cause it is close enough)"

Re: V6 Supercar's Season 1 Reborn

It's possible to get the engine, I made it with a reliability of 65% aprox and more than 700hp

The displacement of the engine can be 5000, or 5001 cc? Or it must be 4999 or lower?

It can only displace 5000cc's or less, if your block is 5001cc or greater you must reduce the internal displacement to under 5000cc's.

Ok, I made yesterday a 5000 cc, but today I achieved much better results with 4999 and lower.

EDIT: Only one motor by user? Or we can send you various motors?

Re: V6 Supercar's Season 1 Reborn

How hard-line is your 5000cc rule? Is it like reliability where 49.9 is close enough? I'm using CIs and I have a few variants that I'm deciding on, all coming in at 305 CI. Would you prefer that I switch over to Metric and make sure I'm on or under the 5000cc mark?

I thought 302 was the limit for the 5.0 trans am series back in the 60's with the boss and z28.

I never use inches for just that reason, but I have two suggestions if you're stuck on US customary units:

  • Build the engine right at the cusp - i.e. so that one point less bore or one point less stroke would put it at 304 CI or less.
  • Check the .lua file on your hard drive after you're done. There should be a line that says "Capacity=". If that number is less than 5.000 you should be fine.

Wait - I'm rereading the rules, and it looks like the family capacity has to be over 5000cc and the variant capacity has to be under 5000cc. Is that correct?

I understand that the family engine can be bigger than 5000 cc but the variant must be 5000 or lower.

Like making the engine on the Chevy 400 smallblock, the casting is made for bigger bore than the 302, then put in a short stroke crank to get it down to under 5000cc.

I think it was actually 305. GM did build a 302 CI V8, but their 5L was actually bigger than the Ford 5.0 which came in at ~4.95L as a 302. I usually use the rough conversion of 61 CI/L. Therefore 61 CI*5L = 305 CI.

Regardless, I'll go through and check on the metric scale. I still can't decide if I should go with my motor that makes more torque and uses race intakes, or my other version that makes one less horsepower and about 15 ft-lb less torque for a reliability in the mid 60s. (I have 2 more variants that I trashed, one because it was a turbo version and prohibited, the other because it was only 4 valve per cylinder and I was having my intake valve airflow restricted in the top end.)

We are limited to 700HP, right? The 680-700 wasn't a suggested range.

Yes, 680-700 is compulsory.

Re: V6 Supercar's Season 1 Reborn

It was tricky, but in Build 150922 I was able to barely squeeze together a SOHC V6 that satisfied the rules - 681 hp, 20% efficiency. So that'll be the Packbat Auto Works entry.

It's way easier to build DOHC, though.
