So we still have 14+2 places left! 2 are pending due to issues with the exported model, the others look fine so far.

Cars: Now I have 2 Sunfires to take care of. One runs, but it's a manual. Not used to driving those yet.

So, is Environmental Resistance a judging factor?

The challenge mentions protection against rust, yet that isn't present in the stat importance list.

I do not say Aboot or live in an Igloo, go away.

Re: Regular Communist (1986) - Racing and Car Rating!

I don't get it, how on earth does the ultra compact mini (the one with the 1.98m wheelbase) have so much passenger room!? Well there is also the no cargo room, looks like it isn't partitioning correctly? Also, the 2.49m wheelbase body is indeed on the small side, but its passenger and cargo space just seems disproportionately small.

After I weigh things up I'll figure out if I want to race a mini car, or an ultra wagon

The SAMI Ural 2000

The car is designed to be reliable , economic and frugal. It can go anywhere, anytime with any drunken peasant driving it.

Pros
-- good acceleration
-- good braking
-- large cargo space
-- 5 seats
-- 780 km range (better than most european automobiles of the time)
-- mudproof paint
-- easy and cheap to fix

Re: Regular Communist (1986) - Racing and Car Rating!

The conversation in the board room of perenially struggling British manufacturer (that kept trying to export to international markets when they really should have been continuing to play to their home market first), Armada Motors, went something to the tune of, well, it's time to recycle an old design, but they might want to make a few changes first, such as replacing the panels with cheap plastic, building the thing on a ladder instead of unibody construction, changing the drivetrain type, stripping the interior, nevermind the crumple zones... oh hang it just go the whole hog and change everything up.

The result: it's the Belford. Except not the Belford, because the only thing that's even remotely similar about it is the appearance. Oh, and the V6, but that's been updated with a swanky new DOHC valvetrain. Armada never changed their valvetrain pioneering ways, even, or especially, when it came to exports. And because they skimped on the panels and interior, the wagon is spacious, very light, and therefore, very economical and frankly, goes like the blazes.

And all painted in a shade of lovely and somewhat cheekily named Soviet Green.

The 6 body bases were allowed, each of them have a few options, the one Strop chose could be a Sedan, Coupe, Wagon, or Pickup.

Re: Regular Communist (1986) - Racing and Car Rating!

Information!

PLEASE only use the linked mod pack from the workshop. Please dont install mods manually from the forums - it will not work.
Someone sent me a car using my Polonez Body, which is compliant with the rules.
Image
This is unacceptable though - certain someone installed the mod manually and not by using the steam workshop. Please refrain from doing so. This guy got a second chance but ANY car sent now, will be disqualified without any discussion.
This will also cause problems in any challenge now, so please... ONLY USE STEAM WORKSHOP NOW.

Re: Regular Communist (1986) - Racing and Car Rating!

Here is my entry, the Austin Allegro Group B Chrome Edition.

It looks quite ridiculous, because the driver wanted to see while driving at night and also wanted to be seen at all times. The gigantic front wing is the remains of the original plan, that was to put a massive 550 hp engine on the car, but it was shelved since it was both terrible and too expensive. This car makes do with a sensible 4.2 32V V8 though and will hopefully be fast enough, while being liveable enough.

The Pinguin is a family sized wagon and is specifically build for the Eastern market. This car will bring western luxury for a soviet price. It can go that extra mile and offers both power and enough economy. The standard version of the car will be availabe in four happy colours.
