Re: Automation World Endurance Championship - 1991

and for an engine to be considered 'production' it can't have a race exhaust with race headers. Do we have to have a cat and mufflers?

Nope, I'm Australian 8-) , but my company's backstory is based on being a Communist carmaker from Moldova... I have issues with being mainstream!

Introducing my entry for this Championship...

The Leeroy Lunatic (Race edition)

The Leeroy Lunatic usually sports the biggest engine Leeroy can engineer to fit in the engine bay but, thanks to the collapse of Communism in Moldova, Leeroy Racecraft was able to set their sights on racing. The requirements for homologation meant that the Lunatic was sold with a special option pack. Customers who ticked the Race91 box received a powerful, yet extremely reliable, 3200cc Straight six and a stripped back version of the usual Lunatic interior as well as better brakes, handling and aerodynamic efficiency than the usual Communist era experience. Needless to say, this option sold very well throughout the ex Soviet bloc and Leeroy was able to boast homologation qualifying production numbers without having to resort to the usual methodology of "Capitalisming" the production numbers...

Ironically, as of 2014, this optional edition of the 1991 model Lunatic is the most likely version of the car found as other Lunatic variants have long since broken down, been stolen and sent to Colombia or stuffed sideways into a wall, tree etc. :D

Haha, yeah  I always look to see if the post authors' actual place of residence matches what they've chosen for these comps... It helps sometimes with interpreting why they went certain ways, design-wise :D
