Re: Formula Automation - 1975

Questions, so many questions... but thank you for them. I'll try to answer them as good as possible and make this problems understandable for you.
Let's go:

Leonardo9613 wrote:Could you explain the buying of tech pool points more clearly? I didn't really understand that.
Also, what do you mean by "price money", are you talking about the price or to prize?

Q1: Ok, basically you are just buying your team into the future. The standard year is always the current season(atm. 1975). So if you buy a +2 tech year upgrade f.e. you can now use the building year 1977.

Q2: I mean the money you win by performing well at races and in the championship.

np1993 wrote:So we can A) build an engine with a chassis to race B) build a chassis to race with someone else engine or C) make engines for others to race?

Yes.

nialloftara wrote:will production units play a part or only total cost?

Production units will be part of the total costs. One production unit will cost you 25$.

Here is a short example of a privateer team budget for one season:

Total car costs:
Chassis material costs(total car material costs minus engine material costs)...8000$
Chassis production units(total car p.u. minus engine p.u.)...250 -> 250*25=6250$
Buying an engine....7000$
Buying a +1 tech year upgrade(to use 1976 technology)....5000$
____________
26250$

Total running costs:
Car maintenance....5000$
Entering all 9/10 races....9000$
___________
14000$

Total costs:
26250$
+14000$
_______
40250$ -> the team has still 9750$ left

Hopefully this will help. :)

3rayman3 wrote:Will budget's roll over from the previous seasons.

Yes

mer_at wrote:Well, how would you be an engine provider?
Make an engine that costs 3.000$, sell it for 4.000? Why would the buyer not just save it under a new name, claim it as it's own and save 1.000$?

First of all, a engine supplier should never ever post his engine on the forum and won't send the file to a customer without sending the contract to me first. This should keep you save for the first season.
With regards to the seconds season: if a privateer team decides to switch to a manufacturer entry, their own engine will be checkt for similarities with previous customer engines they used. If they are pretty similar, with only small or no changes applied this will off course be penalized.

finally i have a few questions sent to me vie PM:

These $50 000 are for 1 car or 2 (like real F1 teams)?
The quality slides are 0 or i buy them (with some wins or rules), Lap times will be flat(as are in game) or there will be some random factor?
Do i have limit on Production units?
Cars with turbo will race together with N/A ?

P.S.
Can i ask you (i am new here :) ) is there a way to change engine for saved car and how ?

Q1: Only 1 car, because with the current system there won't be a difference in time, so it wouldn't make any sense to run 2 cars.

Q2: You can use the quality sliders as you like, as long as you can effort the high production units.

Q3: There will be now random factors for now. The only that is not in the game are pit stops, as (hopefully good enough) explained in the opnening post.

Q4: No.

Q5: Yes.

Q6: Maybe someone else could answer this because i don't really have an idea what you mean.

So, hopefully i answered every question understandable. Please keep asking questions in order to make it easier to understand for you and everyone else involved.

Re: Formula Automation - 1975

I wil be entering as a manufacturer and I will also be selling the engine. Prices will start at 8,000.
PM for stats. Let's just say the torque is much higher than anything than else offered so far and power is good.

RaduST wrote:Indeed. In order for this to work OP should find a way to simulate some sort of R&D cost distribution so that engines bought from an engine provider would become cheaper than an in-house developed engine.

This comment really made me think and i think you are totally right. Therefore i'll revise the rules slightly in order to make this happen.

"Designing" a new engine will cost you something called R&D costs. It's calculated like this: Engine production units * 60

This will have to be payed by the entry who designs the engine(Manufacturer team or engine supplier) only once(for each different engine off course).
To make this deal a bit sweeter for everyone who builds engines, you'll be able to "upgrade" your engine between the seasons without R&D costs. However, you won't be allowed to change any part, except the exhaust.
This means you can are able to change the settings and the year of your engine, thats it.

Hopefully everyone is fine with this change. If not, feel free to state your thoughts and start a discussion about it.

Re: Formula Automation - 1975 -> revised engine rules!

Bogliq Automotive have two engines available for this competition.

Option 1

NA 3000cc Inline 6
Power: 220Kw
Torque: 324Nm
Reliability: 37.6
Price: $7000

Option 2

Turbo 1500cc Inline 6
Power: 182Kw
Torque: 255Nm
Reliability: 28.2
Price: $7000

With 25 years of inline 6 production, development and tuning under our belt, Bogliq Automotive is of the opinion that either of our crate engines will supply our discerning customers the highest performance for the price. Bogliq Automotive uses only the latest mechanical injection systems as the sidedraft carburettor simply cannot meet our high performance and reliability benchmarks and the inline 6 configuration revs smoothly, easy to package and sounds spectacular.

Buy Bogliq Automotive and you are buying for the future!

Do R&D costs count for the first season?

Q6: It sounds like the user is asking how to change motors in a car which has already been saved. On the Drivetrain Tab in the last section of the car designer, there is a button labeled "Choose Engine" which will allow you to choose another saved motor, build a new motor, or revise a saved motor. For a visual explanation, see picture below.

So, hopefully i answered every question understandable. Please keep asking questions in order to make it easier to understand for you and everyone else involved.

Thanks for the new deadline.

Re: Formula Automation - 1975 -> new deadline

Ok, the deadline has passed and we have 2 raceable cars entered.

I will start the series off today, but with no reliability rule applied becuase it would be too easy to see none of the cars even finish a race.

Round 1: Grand Prix of China

So here we are with the first qualifying of this series:

1. RaduST - Gemina Works Team - 2:24.61 (3 points)
2. Dan Kolov - Bulgar Motors - 2:35.99 (2 points)

Race

1. RaduST - Gemina Works Team - 2:10:48.97 (9 points)
2. Dan Kolov - Bulgar Motors - 2:20:30.46 (6 points)

Championship

1. Gemina Works Team 12 points
2. Bulgar Motors 8 points

Re: Formula Automation - 1975 -> Round 1

Ok, sorry for the double post.
I'll let the entries open for everyone who wants to join in because this can only add to the fun of this series. You can join whenever you like, but you will of course only be able to take part in the races which are not done yet.
