Hey Guys,

I did a little research on how stuff worked in automtion and more or less accidently created a plastic bumpered version of the 70's saloon cars :D After I discovered what I had done I separated it from the original and created new versions!
Did the same trick to the headlights, indicators and lips as well so you can design the ultimate early eighty's car :)

You can just attach it to the forums, under "upload attachment".

Great idea, simple things that can add a lot to the game.

Gosh, you stole my idea ! :D
I have been working on something similar. I'll remake it from scratch as soon as the update comes out.
Still, I forgot about the bodies as I mainly focused on fixtures. If you want it so, we can share the task ;)
I'm planning on completing the fixtures with new materials (painted, plastic and chrome on almost everything), so maybe we can do the same to the bodies...
Did you try to replace the bumpers with a blank material ? Maybe we can get a bumperless version of these !

It wouldn't really be possible. While the bumpers themselves are blankify-friendly (are separate elements), the material is shared with mirrors (and window frames, IIRC), so it would render these invisible as well.

Not only that - the materials aren't quite suited for "removing" 3d elements - There are 2 transparent materials - one of them is used for the area under bumpers to stamp lips on (so it would act as an invisible bumper, not as a lack of a bumper), the other one is used for calculating cargo space, and I'm really not sure how the calculations would react to assigning this material to more complex shapes, since cargo space is represented as a box.

No I haven't tried transparent yet...but I've tried a body coloured version but the trim around window but I thought that wouldn't look nice...

I'm planning to do a carbon coloured mid engine body as well :-D which would have a nice effect with body coloured fixtures :-P

But collaboration seems like a nice idea....I post a beta package Sunday and we see what we have together and build a complete pack...

You could change the year in the files and they become 80's sedans.

I already did that...They are available from 1979....

But I don't see if that has a positive effect on specs....at least I haven't tinkered with it that far yet...

Also added black lips, taillights and a grill which I personally use a lot.

I'm currently also making another version of grilles to create nice cut-outs but I get an error which I don't fullt comprehend....

It's working in-game....

But i get this error while selecting the grilles...

  Code:

The error is nothing to worry about. It happens to everybody who has three pages (or more) of a certain kind of fixture. In this case, I can guess it is grilles.
