Modding Tutorial 1 - Making Grilles

Considering we often get emails from 3d artists who want to make art assets for us, I figured I'd start doing a series of tutorials for modeling the different types of assets used by Automation. Starting with the simplest type, Grilles.

Here is the video tutorial for Grilles - http://youtu.be/xJ9XRDcDAbc

Requirements

Automation Build B1416 - viewtopic.php?f=13&t=4731

Please post stuff you've made in this thread, and feel free to post any questions about the modding/import process here too.

If you're interested in us using some of your models ingame, please let us know, and we can get you to sign some stuff saying we're legally allowed to do so. Of course this is subject to the models being of the appropriate quality to use ingame. And you're by no means obligated to let us have your models if you don't want to.

Will you use this assets in the official releases after their quality has been proved?

EDIT.: The thumbnail maker does not seem to work at all. It's typed is exactly the same as the help() says.

No, they're quite a lot more complex. More tutorials coming later on for that!

Re: Modding Tutorial 1 - Making Grilles

This is brilliant! Now I can try and make grilles from my favourite cars! (I've already tried to make headlights and wings without a tutorial like this, it didn't go well :P)

Re: Modding Tutorial 1 - Making Grilles

You might try putting a KajiraExport2010.dle file in there. I have the 3DS Max 2013, so I don't know if this will help, but it's worth trying at least.

Solved (and the solution): I had unblocked all kajira plugins (right click->properties->unblock file), accept. The message appears, but you can export.

Re: Modding Tutorial 1 - Making Grilles

With the plugins, you only need the version for your max (i.e. 2010). And it is 32bit only.

Re: Modding Tutorial 1 - Making Grilles

Bug: when you put any custom grille, when you scroll down the grilles list, the second page grilles can't use: you click to any grille (inclusive the game grilles, ONLY THE SECOND PAGE AND NEXT PAGES of parts), and nothing: the grille is not selected, and you can't use this grilles: the first page, yes: you can use.

Can I import a grille maked in Sketchup Pro (exported in 3ds the grille), and import in 3DS Max?.
