Monza 1961-1965 [10km Grand Prix Track with Ovals]
The historic track layout with ovals (as it is seen in the movie movie Grand Prix) is now done. I recreated the track from a modern satellite image as there was no original available.
Banking angle is 38 degrees. I measured if the Start - Rettifilo Chicane distance is 619m, scaled the track in AutoCAD and overall track length "should" be 10,000m. I do not have a perfectly replicated car from the 1960 to test if the lap times are comparable. But 1970 sports cars do the track in ca 3 minutes, modern cars can get into the low 2 minutes. Track favors a fast, aerodynamic car but the turns should no be underestimated.
A few minor problems still remain but nothing major. Afaik automation has no concept of track width. Therefore very fast bends like Curva Vialone had to be modeled as gentle curves and not angles in the track, because otherwise our driver would hit the brakes. If you know how to do this better, let me know and I'll fix this. Approach to the finish straight could be improved but it takes a lot of time to get this right, and I had to release at some point. I want to fix by small incremental changes, but right now I am also pretty sure you will not even notice
download v2
If there is interest in the short version without oval or the oval only, I could do that with minimal effort. I have already a version with the oval separately, but personally dont think it's very interesting.
