Columbus Automotive

Columbus autos started in 1986 in a garage in Columbus, Ohio, U.S.A. At the time, they were a company that made reliable, tough engines for small and large trucks. Columbus realized they had to expand a little as the small garage they operated out of was not enough. In 1989, they purchased a factory near Winnepeg, Manitoba in Canada. There the job was the same, engines for trucks, just more work and more profit. All of the guys who were the "pioneers" of Columbus autos had racing backgrounds though, and were getting bored of the same old thing. The year was 1994 and the men at Columbus had a meeting. They were very interested in the "super car" movement, and wanted to get involved. The newly appointed head designer at Columbus(who did body work for F1) drew up a design and everyone liked it. This was called the "Beretta".

Idk why but cant get screenshots to work well so i'm just gonna effin type the basic things like speed and power on here..

Columbus let the Beretta sink in for a few years and they figured out that they need to step it up to large markets. They needed something they could mass produce. This brought the Inferno, a 2 door fwd coupe with a zippy twin cam. Very similar body to the beretta but not even close performance. It did get 36 mpg, though.

Re: Columbus Automotive

I really like your designs, and a good back story too, shows that there's some feeling behind the company.

To make screenshots with the stats displayed, you have to run the game in windowed mode, and use the Alt+Print Screen shortcut. Then paste it into Paint, or another photo editor, and it should appear. It's a bit of a work around, but there are more important things to be worked on right now :).

@TadZah: please don't quote whole posts like that, it's unnecessary if you just want to comment on the look of the car, and it takes up a lot of space simply to display the same thing that was in the original post. Also it just bugs me :P.

As for your designs, JSauce; the front of the Vortex is one of the best I've seen. It looks so modern and innovative. I imagine the inside would be packed to the brim with gadgets :). But I think the CS3 is a bit bonkers looking for my taste.

Thanks man. I tried to go for a "modern" look on the vortex. I think I went a little too hard on the styling of the cs3. Its really aggressive looking

Re: Columbus Automotive

I don't really like the styling of the Panther. If you were to incorporate some of the design of the Vortex, which is amazing looking, it might be better IMO.

Nice, the front of it looks a bit like a menacing robot or cyborg.

Re: Columbus Automotive

I love it all, except for the taillights. They would look a lot better if they were a bit larger. They seem way too small for my taste, but the rest of the car more than makes up for it! :P

I have been working on improving the cs3, which was my sport sedan.
Here was my result

As you may notice it is just a revision of the sedan platform i just showed. That model is called the 3SE
For this one i didn't want to compromise anything. It had to be fast and it is just that with 4 wheel drive and a turbocharged 6 cylinder engine. Yes, a 6 cylinder, originally my cs3 had a v8. but the i6 gives it better fuel economy and that was something it needed while still being able to deliver 339hp and boost the car from 0-60 in 3.4 seconds flat. The car is much lighter, cooling is better with vents above the headlights and i think it just looks better.

Just wanted to get some thoughts on this little mid engined sports car. I haven't thought of a name for it or anything yet.
