Aurora Motor Company

Still sorting out the model lineup as I just pre ordered, so the only model I have is the one I made in the demo.
The Aurora Coret, a super mini, competing with the Fiat 500, Audi A1

I'll upload the car and engine details later, watch the ad for it below:

Re: Aurora Motor Company

That's a great advert, but the first part where it moves up the gears takes too long. I had to skip some of the video to see if there was anything else.
The end is great though :).

I also subscribed, because I like to support other Automation playing YouTube channels much like my own. :)

Re: Aurora Motor Company

Good job!
Also, the message about "Now with a 6 speed gearbox" is way too quick. If you redo the video, then try to get a bit more time there to get your selling point across. I love what you did with the logo and the end though :)

Aurora Manticore

This is the halo car in my lineup until the mid engined chassis supports large v12 engines :)

Presenting the Aurora Manticore, powered by a 4.8L naturally aspirated V8 that redlines at a 8000. Competitors include the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, Lexus LFA. Priced starting from $99,999, it is price competitive with the Aston (although the interior of the Aston is better). Options include carbon ceramic brakes for $16,000. Comes with Aurora's Industry leading 10 year/160,000km new car warranty and 15 year/200,000km powertrain warranty (warranties are non transferable!)

Special features include rear vents to feed air to cool the rear brakes and the signature Manticore twin fender mounted exhausts.

I was going to wait until I had finished making the ads for this, but I estimate it will take me about a month to finish it. Just in time for the North American International Auto show reveal!

Manticore suspension questions

Is there anything I can do to improve the lateral acceleration or suspension of the Manticore?

I have reached the point where tweaking the suspension either improves sportiness and hurts tameness, or vice versa. Does this mean there is no more optimisation to be done, and any further changes mean an improvement in one means a regression in the other?

Also for the body bump test, because the bump is dealt with about 0.4 seconds, does that mean it will be felt as a sharp jolt?

Also in the yaw rate test, I can only get it to oversteer when I set everything in the front to hard and everything in the back to soft, otherwise it understeers. Will the suspension calculations be adjusted? I remember in the older version, it was relatively easy to tune a car to oversteer without needing to set the front and rear to their extremes.

Re: Aurora Motor Company

I don't think anything has changed in the suspension calcuations. No surprise that it understeers with that tyre size combination. Make the front wheels a bit wider or the rear wheels a bit narrower and you will have a much easier time.

Yee, the bump teet is only one short obstable on the road. If it gets worse in every direction, you have very likely found a good setting.

I like what you did with the design. I think the limitations of the game prevented you from what your true vision (or at least what I think your true vision was).

Ah yes the tyres, of course!
Thanks, what does the additional blue line on the yaw graph represent? I know the red line represents neutral handling. I assme the S = sportiness, T = tameness?

Also is it possible to have a car that is both tame -and- sporty, or are they at opposite extremes? I see cars here with quite high sportiness ratings, but I'm not sure how to achieve them short of having a massive engine with massive power and top speed.

With the jolt graph, does that indicate a comfortable car or a harsh car? I'm thinking it is one of those cars with hard suspension in which road bumps are felt as a harsh jolt because the body movement is gone within half a second...

Thanks, yes I couldn't recreate the rear tail lights as how I imagined them so didn't show from that angle since it looks a bit messy.

Re: Aurora Motor Company

The blue line is the line for perfect tameness, so at least for the handling part of the stats you cannot have both perfect tameness and perfect sportiness. There are other things where you have to make a compromise, too. But as long as you don't go too crazy with engine or other settings, both stats can be pretty good at the same time. Not as good as a car which is focussed on one stat of course.

Re: Aurora Motor Company

This weekend I really wanted to complete the ad I've been working on the for the past month, except my notebook had another fault so it was away for another week. Almost have it done, but I have some unused art that didn't fully make it into the final ad, so posting it here as a teaser:
