This is the MGCC Mirage Mk 1, A range of small family cars with a sporting bias. Launched in early 1974 (Delayed by a few months due to the Oil Crisis).
It featured a range of all new aluminium 16v OHC engines, designed to give superior power over it's rivals of similar sizes.

Unfortunately the oil crisis meant the bottom had fallen out of the market it was aimed at and sales were very slow. MGCC quickly re-rated the engines by altering compression, timing and fuel mix to make them more efficient, but at the cost of their power. (The i6 was dropped)

In 1976 MGCC Launched the Mirage Coupe. This was origianlly intened to be lauched under the MGCC's sports car brand "Mythic" in late 1974, however the aftermath of the oil crisis meant that Mythic's sales collapsed and so it was discontinued.
This shared the engine with the top level saloon, re-introduced the previously dropped i6 and also introduced (in limited numbers) the 3.6l V8 intended for when plans included Mythic.

Excellent. The cars combine perfectly with the year of manufacture, and the engines are very good.

I really like the Mirage Coupe! Excellent styling paired to a great 1.8L I-4. :D
