Re: Solstice Motors - Opinions Wanted

I quit when the Steam release came out. I played it for a while and the change was kind of just... too much. What pissed me off the most was the saving and the "families and variants" thing.
The families and variants feature, in my opinion, is absolutely pointless. I preferred putting my car names (for example: Fleetwood '55) into that one box, it never caused me any trouble, I never lost a single car to the saving. But now, I haven't been able to SAVE A SINGLE CAR since the update.
I just spent the last hour building a car for the company that I promised would come out in February this year. It was a beautiful car, not going to lie, and I was really proud of it, despite having limited mods. I took a deep breath and pressed the save button, heard the sound and then immediately clicked the quit button. Load up the model and what do I see?

A blank fucking car.

...And that's when I just came to the forum to use the search function to see if there was a fix for this, whether I was doing something wrong or if it's a known bug. I put "saving problem" into the search box and saw Strop's comment here. Quite surprised to see people miss me, actually.
Anyway, unfortunately I'm not going to be playing much (if at all) until the saving is fixed, because to be honest it's like a giant middle finger to the player. You put in all that work and just like that it's gone...

Re: Solstice Motors - Opinions Wanted

It's a known bug. I've had it happen to me multiple times. The only solution I found was to not press the save button, since that's what seems to cause the problems. Let the game auto-save it and you should me good.

I'm guessing a Rest In Peace is in order for Solstice Motors? Seems sad to see it go. :(

Re: Solstice Motors - Opinions Wanted

Nope, just not making any new cars until further notice. Besides, I was supposed to be making a subdivision of Solstice so that will see new cars before Solstice does.

Re: Solstice Motors - Opinions Wanted

Sometimes for me you have to look at the save button very carefully. Sometimes the button will light up when you don't even put your cursor over it. What I do to get that to stop is that I go back to where you can move the car body and move it a tiny bit and sometimes that solves my problem. But I don't know if that will help you.

Re: Solstice Motors - Opinions Wanted

I have a Raptr recording of it. Raptr records your gameplay up until you quit the game so I have the whole session recorded.
When I click the save button you hear the sound clearly and it also records the heartbreaking moment when I discovered my car was gone :(

Re: Solstice Motors - Opinions Wanted

What I can say, from the land of closed beta, is that the saving issue is thankfully on the way to being resolved. In addition, the model/trim thing makes a lot more sense once you start seeing value and desirability play out in tycoon mode, the mechanics of which we are currently testing. From a sandbox point of view it's pointless, yes, but it's reflective of tycoon gameplay.

Re: Solstice Motors - Opinions Wanted

Fair enough, glad to hear that this issue is being fixed. Once I'm done doing a couple of things today I might try making a car and see how it goes.

Anyone willing to do a crossover concept car with Solstice?

Re: Solstice Motors - Opinions Wanted

I don't think I would be very good at those... but actually, could you explain to me what a crossover is??? I've been a bit confused as to why they've become so popular, and I'm sure that it's one of things that just seemed to make sense as it happened.

Re: Solstice Motors - Opinions Wanted

  I meant crossover as in a joint project between two companies, oops!

But yeah anyway a crossover CAR is just a vehicle that is built on a regular car platform, but uses features from mainly from SUVs and hatchbacks and estates, If you get me. I guess they became popular because they're spacious like an SUV or an estate car but fuel efficient like a regular hatchback.

Re: Solstice Motors - Opinions Wanted

Oh, so that explains what the Nissan Juke actually is (and why they're so popular).

Well, what kind of concept car would you be interested in making? Though I must hasten to add, I am currently in the middle of a beta run so won't be available until next week...
