Re: The official AMW thread

Hey guys! This is an important post!!!!
Some of you may have noticed that i'm about to set up a youtube channel. I've been inactive on this thread for almost 2 weeks because i was getting everything set up, and today i recorded my first video. Of course, it's about Automation, otherwise i wouldn't mention it there.

On the video, i show and explain how i reworked the looks of the Sparrow/Puma by revising the Puma "on camera". I cut the boring stuff out (the part in which i delete the 2.3 million fixtures of which the old headlights consisted) and then i just did everything step by step and demonstrate some techniques i currently use.

I'm gonna show you how the Sparrow and the Puma look first, and then i'm gonna post the link to the video :)

And here's how you do it:

Re: The official AMW thread

Hey guys, today i'm presenting you a mid-engined sports car that will rival the Lotus Elise and Exige (so it uses the smaller mid-engined body). It's called the Exile, which is very creative given its rival names. But the design really does stand out:

Image Image

Given the (currently) very small engine bay of this platform, this car only uses a 1.0L I4. But it's a 20V engine, and it's turbocharged. And it revs to 10500RPM.
The result is a car that makes 260hp, weighs well under 1000kg, uses less than 6l/100km, does 0-100km/h in 3.7 seconds (with 7-speed double-clutch gearbox) and costs just over 10.000$ to produce.
Image

It'll be yours for only 30.000€, which makes it cheaper than a Lotus Elise, while definitely out performing it. The 260hp might not be enough to keep up with the Exige S V6, but there will be another version coming ;)

Re: The official AMW thread

And here it is! The Exile 300.

It loks exactly the same from the outside, but the engine now makes 300hp as the name suggests.
Image

The engine, as well as the wider tires, makes the car 18kg heavier, but then there's 40hp more and the car still weighs less than a ton. And it still has a 7-speed double-clutch gearbox, which is why it can do 0-100km/h in just 3.4 seconds and the Quarter mile in 11.5 seconds @ 198km/h. Also, people who like driving sports cars will enjoy the handling characteristics as they are very neutral with a little bit of oversteer on the limit.
Image

Since all that's changed is basically only the engine setup, the aero setup and the increased tire width, the production costs have only increased ever so slightly.
Image

That means this car will not be a lot more expensive than the normal Exile, it'll probably cost around 32.000€ which is still a lot less than a Porsche Cayman S or an Alfa 4C, both of which will lose against this car.

Re: The official AMW thread

Now here's the final version of the Exile. Aesthetically, it's still the same, but everything else has changed.
Firstly, this one is made entirely from carbon fibre. Then, it only gets basic interior and standard safety to save weight. The overall car is obviously more expensive now, it's no longer cheaper than most of its rivals.
Image

Then, the engine has been tuned up to 320hp. With just under 800kg and a 7-speed double-clutch gearbox, as well as semi slicks for the best possible track times, this means that the car will go from 0-100km/h in less than 3 seconds. With a 1.0L engine. And it still likes to oversteer ;)
Image

The price for this car is now 80.000€, about the same as the Lotus Exige S V6 costs here. But then the Lotus can't do 0-100 in 2.9 seconds and it's 300kg heavier.

On a side note, you may have noticed by my avatar that AMW now finally has a badge! I had the idea and a shitty concept version of it, and then Wizzy refined it and made it as awesome as it is now! Thanks Wizzy :)

Re: The official AMW thread

Oh no! I did it again!
Man, i wish i wasn't so tempted to make another 500+km/h car, but here it is anyway, the Taipan!
Image Image

With a 6.3L twin-turbo V8 putting out 2020hp, this RWD car does 0-100km/h in 2.4 seconds and the Quarter Mile in 8.6 seconds. 0-400km/h takes 13.6 seconds and the standing Kilometer is dealt with in 14.4 seconds @ 418km/h. The 5km AMW testing straight takes just 44.34 seconds, only 0.57 longer than the Peregrine.
Image

The price is obviously high. Given it costs almost 100.000$ total to produce, i think 750.000€ is a fair price when one incalculates all the costs for research and development. There will only be 750 Taipans ever made since the Peregrine is still in production and is the first priority.

Wow the Taipan is a monster with a great and aggressive appearance.
That tameness... would be like riding a wild/mad horse, naked and looking to the back...

Re: The official AMW thread

thanks! :) But 0 tameness is not too surprising considering it's a RWD car with over 2000hp and oversteering handling characteristics :D

Re: The official AMW thread

Hey guys! :)
Today i'll show you the all new Kestrel. It is reminiscent of the '65 Raptor. The Kestrel has always been supposed to be a luxurious muscle car right from its debut at the DQE factory. But in recent generations, it lost the musclecar-like looks and went more towards looking like a high-class GT car which it isn't because it's not about sportiness. It's a very fast but comfortable cruiser, and it accelerates very quickly.
Here's what it looks like:
Image Image

And if you wanna know how to do this design, you're welcome to check out my new video :)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mg20gGWiov8

The Kestrel will come with a 9.0L V8 and a 4-speed manual gearbox, just like the original Raptor did. The 2nd gear will top out at slightly above 200km/h. The car weighs more than 1850kg and is RWD only, and yet it will do 0-100km/h in 4.1 seconds.

Re: The official AMW thread

You are more than welcome for the compliment, it was deserved.

I am going to thank you for reminding me about that. I had completely forgotten about it, and to be honest I think it is probably about time the team (including myself) got back to work on them. I do have one major issue though, which is the fact I don't actually know whether the old models/platforms work with the new beta (which I suppose they don't) and also I have no idea where I stored the cars that needed reviewing on my old toaster/laptop, so even if they do work I probably will have to ask people to send in new entries with those who sent cars in for reviewing before getting priority. Sorry!

Re: The official AMW thread

Hey guys! Today i'm gonna show you my latest mid-engined sports car, the Anaconda!

This is the perspective that most people on the road are going to see:
Image

But if you see one parking somewhere, or go to your local AMW dealer, you'll also see it from this perspective:
Image

Now, what is this car supposed to do?
It's a sports car for every day, so its competitors are cars like the McLaren 12C and the Audi R8 V10.
First of all, the engine is a 6.0L NA V8 with 644hp, making it more powerful than both of those cars. As a result of the power, as well as the 1350kg overall weight, it goes from 0-100km/h in just 3.0 seconds even with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Braking from 100-0km/h is dealt with in just 30.6m.
But then, you'll find that this car is surprisingly economical, at only 9.5l/100km. It's also quite comfortable thanks to the premium interior, moderate sound insulation, standard entertainment and a reasonable ride height of 235mm.
Image

On hot days, you can also open the sun roof:
Image

The price for this car is also acceptable considering the allround capabilities of this car. It's 125.000€ despite being made fully from carbon fibre.

Re: The official AMW thread

Hey guys, this is another mid-engined car! It's like Lotus Elise, but a bit less focussed on Sportiness and it's called the Mamba. Sure, i mean it'll do 0-100km/h in 4.0 seconds but the suspension is not very sharp to allow for better ride comfort. It's not luxurious, though. You only get standard interior, basic entertainment and standard safety features. In return, this car only costs just over 10.000$ to produce, and so it will be yours for 35.000€. That's less than a supercharged Elise, and it's also less than an Alfa 4C, let alone a Porsche Cayman.
Now you're probably curious to know how it looks. I give you a little preview here:
Image

But i would be stupid not to use this opportunity to promote the video about it :D
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eto1uj-KGBY

Then, in a cooperation between myself, my NFSU tuning team and Wizzy, this awesome picture was created! Also, the power output went from 250 to 320hp! That will make for a 0-100km/h acceleration of 3.5 seconds, and only 13 seconds from 0-200, compared to the standard Mamba's 17 seconds. Here it is, and a big special thanks to Wizzy for helping me edit this! :D
Image

As this is a tuned car, you can't buy it. But maybe it'll appear in Need for Speed Underground 3, should EA ever make it.

Tom
